Hello, I don't know if any one else has done it but I used the instructions on Gadgets fixit page and installed electronic cruise control (audiovox ccs 100) on my 1500 Classic. The thing is great, awesome, fantastic, I used the instructions on gadgets page for the Nomad and just changed what I needed to, to get it to work on the Classic (carbed model) okay, now the problem is... it was (for 6 mos) working great, we road 400 miles one day, road about 50 miles the next day, then when I went to ride again, the cruise didn't work, all lights come on but it never engages!! I've checked the LED self diagnostics, check good... I've checked the voltages with a meter, checked ground, checked coil output signal, everthing seems to work fine, but the cruise won't engage, won't work... Okay, so my question is, if anyone else that has installed this cruise control on their bike, have you had this happen , and if so do you know how to or what to do to fix it, ....... what's wrong with it??? I don't really want to buy a whole new unit , Thanks for any info.

Semo - check to see if the throttle puller/motor is working. Also see if you have power to the motor. The Audiovox cruse control is really old technology and is, usually, rock reliable.
I've never installed one on a bike, but I've had two on my cars in the past. Worked well in both a '75 Olds Omega and in a MG Midget. (That's a long story for another day...)

Thanks for the replies, yes I checked the fuse, and I have power to all the places I'm supposed to under the trouble shooting chart, I pulled the servo unit apart (after checking to see if I had good vacuum...I did, I thought it was going to pull my tongue out of my mouth) I pulled on the cable to the throttle, from inside the servo, it's moves freely... I applied 12 volts to the solenoids inside the servo( the servos control the valves to the vac ports) all 3 solenoids worked. I too have installed these units before, one on a 98 Mustang, about 6 years ago, still works great, One on a 71 Firebird that I restored, it worked great until I took it off to put on the Vulcan( I sold the Firebird) it worked great on the Vulcan until one day it just didn't work!!!!
It stopped working when I changed from a regular bulb to an L.E.D bulb in my taillight, I really don't see any connection between the 2, the LED bulb shouldn't have affected it, I put a regular bulb back in the taillight (just in case!?) it still doesn't work, it comes on ( the unit lights up when the key is turned on) the cruise light comes on when you hit the on button, but it never engages....pulls the throttle and picks up throttle control... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I checked the board for cold or cracked solder joints, I'm not sure what else to try, other than getting a new unit. |

I don't know much about how the cruise control connects, but LED lights use a lot less amps than a regular bulb. Could the extra amps not being used by the bulbs burned out some circuit in the control module?
