Thumbs down Tool box hinderance

Does anyone know why the Kawasaki rear floorboards on my bike (left) would block my toolbox? Seems like a poor design, evidently, I would have to remove the floorboard to get at the tools and how are you gonna do that out on the road?

You need to get a tool bag. Attach to front forks or sissy bar.

Huh? My tool bag is under the side cover and it is easy to get to. Where is yours?

always keep a screwdriver in your back pocket on rides. if you ever need to, use the screwdriver to get your toolbox out. then use your toolbox. simple

Doc...if you moved the rectifier you can add a storage bag like the one in the pictures.

You can't do that on the 800 whistle. The frame wraps around the bottom of the rectifier . What tools are you needing to get to while on the road anyway Doc? Your on an 800 ,other than possibily needing to pull a wheel to fix a flat there isn't much else in there (tool wise). Here's another thought get rid of the rear boards an buy a bagger to haul the wife around on.

Ooopppssss! I just looked at that side of the 800 on the web...sure does.

So why do they make floorboards that hinder getting to the toolbox?

LOL...Well I can't say I enjoy having boards on my geezer glider since I never use them. The Mrs liked them but she has her own bike now so they are for show.

Ya gotta use those teeth. If yours are false, take 'em out and use them to crank those bolts. You get more leverage that way.

I always carry a multi tool on my belt so that wouldn't be a problem.....but a tool bag on the forks would fix that as someone else said. Personally I would look at the ISO mini wings or duallys, they may keep her feet happy and give you back the access to your toolbox.

I second that and go one futher. I don't think there is a minute of the day that when I'm outside my house I don't have a Leatherman tool on me. Of course all the Brainiacks at my new job laugh at me but when you need it, it is a saviour.

I helped 2 different people move and both of them being guys packed up what was most important first....the tools....Duh! The Leatherman saved the day as I was able to disassemble all the bed frames and other stuff that had to come apart before loading....not to mention pull door hinge pins to get extra space!!! My wife gets mad at me cause I don't take it off my belt even for church!
