Default Pre-Thanksgiving Ride....

Naomi hasn't been out of the garage in three weeks, it has been either raining or foggy for the past two weeks and I just couldn't stand it no longer. I figured, "What the heck? It's only fog...and cold....." The temps are in the low 40s and the urge was just too much. Besides, I needed some Seafoam anyway....

When I opened up the garage, the neighborhood looked like this....

At least the streets are semi dry. Fired up Naomi and down to the street, it is a steep down hill ride at that... Naomi sounds lovely. I do love the burble of the Baggers. Hand a left and then another left up the hill and out to the primary road to town. Right and head towards Pioneer Village. Get to the parts store and pick up the Seafoam, and added about 3 to 4 oz. Now, for a gentle ride around the lake.

Down to the lakeshore and turn right. Follow the shoreline weaving between the wet tree leaves, passing the school buses off loading their precious cargo., watch out for the kiddies....

The ride isn't all that long. Lake Stevens is only about 11 miles around and the speed limit is a whopping 25 MPH. But, I'm on Naomi, the temperatures are crisp, and the fog laying over everything gives the area a mystical, erie, peaceful look and feeling.

On the east side of the lake the road is nice and curvy. You don't want to go too fast, but it invites upping the speed, just a touch. Let her come up to ab out 40 or so and hummmm......this is sweet.....lean....carve....swoosh...carve some more... Past all the houses lining the lake, past the kids just recently home from school playing in the yards.

I'm thinking, I am truly blessed. I get to live in what has to be the most beautiful spot on earth, with a woman that loves me and (usually) understands me, and I get to ride my motorcycle in the myst....Just me and the bike...

All too soon, we are pulling into the heart of our little town. Not much here...a Boys and Girls Club, Post Office, "City Hall," Police station and fire department. One small grocery store, a True Value hardware store, one burger place (not a chain, a real burger place where the high school kids get their first crack at making money, and one pretty good Mediterranean restaurant.

The whole ride is over in only about 25 minutes. Not long, I only covered about 15 miles. But, it is enough to make me realize that I have much to be thankful for.

looks like you had a clear day at your place john...lol

Tom and I made a ride Saturday morning and it was a bit foggier than your picture when we started but when we rose out of the valley heading north on hwy 9 towards deming, we discovered it was a nice day out.

great you got some seat time, I'm sure Miss N enjoyed it everybit as much as you did.

Nicely written, a reader can tell how much you truly love riding.

John, I loved reading every line. You helped us be there enjoying the experience. I also love the sound of your small town. I agree...there is nothing like living in a small town. We have 632 people here and a post office...and a nice quiet place to live.

Thanks for your post!

Great read. Kind of reminds me of some night rides I've taken as well, exceptin' for the swoop and swish part on curvy roads...I really like my night rides to be on nice and open roads (the better to see the deer with).
