Default stock seat vs mustang seat

i have a 05 classic with a stock seat with a stock drivers seat back, i love the stock seat but the seat back is way to tall and pushes me to far forward on the bike. i have a couple of friends that swear by thier mustang seats. but they ride a vtx and a c90 and the seatback is attached to the driver seat and the seat back for the classic is attached to the passengers seat making it appear much higher(from what i can tell in pictures) anybody here have any experiance with both of these seatback designs?is the mustang seat worth the price? is the seatback any lower than than the stock one?any help would be apperciated, thanks

The mustang seat forces you to sit upright. Most folks rave about them, but I didn't like the seating position and sold mine. I had my seat reshaped and recovered by Piper's Pads and I'm very happy with the results. Steve will change your seat any way you'd like and his prices are a lot less than what you'd pay for a mustang.

I just purchased a Mustang Touring seat for my Classic and am awaiting it's arrival. From what I've heard the seating position places you lower in the saddle than the stock and the passenger seat winds up acting more as lumbar support. I was never really uncomfortable with my stock seat but my wife certainly complained about her comfort level as a passenger. I've spoken with a couple of people that have this seat and they all agree that it is a vast improvement over the stock. The Touring seat is a two piece configuration and uses the original mounting points for installation. Since my riding season is over with in NY, I'll have to wait until this coming spring to test it out. If you decide on one, definitely shop around, including Ebay as they sell for less than retail price.

I've got a 2000 Nomad and installed Mustang seats in 2004-- what a difference! My butt used to get so sore that NOTHING helped-- not the gel pad, sheepskin, or squirming. The Mustang (even extra plush) sits lower than stock and the feeling is more like being in a saddle than sitting on top of the bike. There's also about 6-8" of mini-backrest from the crotch of the passenger seat. I sit back in the seat and the driving position is very comfortable-- my butt no longer hurts (even riding 11 hrs straight). Becasue the seat is lower and more like a saddle, there is a much more positive connection with my bike.

my stock V2K seat was only good for 45mins before the tail bone would start to hollar at me.. since my mustang, never once had any pain.. Almost 6500 miles in 10 days and never once had a sore butt... well worth the cash for me..

moved about an inch forward and an inch lower... i like it...

My Classic came with the Mustang & I am more than pleased with it, but never rode with the stock seat (I still have it though) to compare.

Cant say enough about my Mustang seat. The stock one gave me a pain in the tailbone after 30 min. Bought the Mustang and havent looked back. Can ride 8-9 hours now no problem. Was easy to install and looks good too. Best option I bought.

Cheers

Are there any seats available similar to the stock seat but lower your riding position and still offer the same or better comfort?

See my post above

I had mine lowered and moved forward along with changing the shape of the seat to how I wanted it, plus I had mine recovered in leather. Steve no longer offers leather though =\

If you wanted to attempt this yourself you can open up the seat, cut the foam and/or layer in some memory foam or gel then staple the seat cover back onto the pan and ride

Do a search for memory foam here if you're interested
