Default Airfilter mods done to my 1600

I got my airfilter mods done yesterday, I highly recommend it, it took about 15 minutes, very easy to do, thanks to Constrictor for the well put together instructions, The 1600 classic is alittle different but basically its the same.
I changed the left side a bit, I blocked off the air box tube completly so it wont be getting any air from the left side, just didnt want it to pull in any warm air at all thru the air box between the cyclinders, and I completly removed the ICS solenoids.
Wont be able to ride it for a while because of the snow, and that is the hardest part of doing mods at this time of year, but I had it running for quite awhile just to get a fix of the loud exhaust and the sucking/thumping sound that comes from the filter now, and one other bonus is that it quites down the ticking noises that emit from the Isc solenoids, because they arent there any more.

I used the Mr. Gasket brand air filter and covers
Part Number 1487
they cost me 17.99 each, and that was all that was required as the filters fit well and I reused the factory bolt to attatch the chrome lid

overall i like the mod, I really like the look of the stock cover thats whats keeping me from going out & getting the parts. the thunder system will fit the stock cover but its a whopping $300 or so. tough decision.

extra power is a big bonus, DhDaniel, how much power you picked up again?

dont laugh but it worked.........

I took the complete plastic assembly off and cut 3 sheets of glad press and seal plastic wrap and 2 layers of heavyduty aluaminum foil, and then bolted it back up to the airbox, it seals very good between the airbox and plastic filter holder, as it fits into a recess. so now the bike will not pull any warm air from the leftside at all, and then I will just use the leftside to store a filter for me when the right one needs replaced.

one thing that I thought of doing before I bought the Mr Gasket kit was to take the original cover and a 1/2" or 3/4" hole saw and cut a few holes in the bottom of the cover on the end, which would allow more air to come in, but still have the original covers, and then the filter would be more protected also from the rain and bugs and stuff, and then do the air mod, but just buy filters.

Just an idea Dave if you want to keep your original covers

Not only can he do his own mods, he knows his way around the kitchen like Martha Stewart! Looks good 1600, I would love to get out in the garage to do a few things, but its below zero here, so its just not gonna happen.

Nice job. I just wanted to mention I like your solution for the two tubes that had hooked up to the ics's.

As far as the flag goes- well at least its not a ford flag. It'd be better if it was something more like this

Deron, it looks great. Wish you had some of my Texas warm weather just long enough to take a test ride. Great Chevy banner, since I worked for Chevrolet for 30 years. Love my 2004 Avalanche, I've already had it longer than most vehicles I've owned. Anybody want to buy a loaded Avalanche??

The mod look good but I just cannot see changing my '05 Nomad since it runs so good. Don't know if I would gain enough to spend that much $$$$ for the mod.
