    Hi Guys,
Other than cosmetically, is the Drifter and the Classic the same bike?

    Thanks,
    Barry

I was wondering this as well. I went to a dealer before I go m y Drifter and he started telling me about retro fitting the Drifter front fender to the classic. All he wanted to do was sell a bike..............I wanted a Drifter straight out and walked.

Hey Go to this site http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm.
I done my "Goats belly " and the muffler and it sounded better but it didnt fix my sound habit .So I did the V&H Long Shots and some Samson Fish Tails .She kinda soft sounding but twist the wrist and every Harley Rider runs for cover including their old ladies and children.

well, it looks like im looking for a new paint job or the bike. i havent been able to ride now for about 3 weeks; doctors orders. but it was so nice out today, i went anyway, and im paying for it now. but anyways, paint. last weekend, i wa washing it and ive been using this stuff called pig snot. its an all bike cleaner like the S1000 and it does an awesome job. spray on, hose off. done. well, our cutlass(see pictures of my new seat) is for sale and a guy stopped by to look at it while i was washing the bike. i didnt get a chance to rinse the pig snot off before he got there and it dried and i had to leave it sit for about a half hour. so i thought, ok, no big deal. i hosed it off, dried it and put it away. about a week later, i had nothing to do, so i decided to clean it up. got out the cleaner wax and did the front, got to the tank, and noticed the paint. the pig snot took off som of the clear coat and oxidized the paint. it looks bad. so im probably gona end up getting it repainted now. not sure it i wana stick to the stock paint scheme or not. im looking for custom stuff to get some ideas. i might just leave it and keep it waxed to prevent it from getting worse. if you're gona use an all bike cleaner, make sure to rinse it off very very well and wax it when you wash.

ps. i fell in love with a 2007 road king. if i only had the money....id keep the drifter and get the harley too.

can you post a picture of what you're looking at? on my bags, the bolts go through the inside of the bag and out to bolt to the mounting/support bracket.

btw, i just got home from bike week in Ocean City. the drifter is awesome. i spent about 6 hours on it today on the ride home, just a little sore, but not bad. had a little trouble friday night with it though. we went to a bar(i dont drink and ride) and when we were going to leave, i put the key in, turned it and pushed the ignition and it died. we couldnt figure out whatit was. after a few times of trying to bump start it, we tried to take the seat off to check the battery. i could only get one bolt out. after jiggling the battery terminal, we got it running and barely kept it going bck to the condo. fixed it yesterday morning with a trip to the hardware store for a rachet and a 10mm socket. so ya'll might wanna check those connections everyonce in a while to make sure they're tight or else you might end up like me; having drunk guys push you down the road at 3am with cops standing around having a good laugh while trying to bump it.

actually heres the links... see this one on page 2 shows me drilling holes in the sadlle bag (These mavrick 2's dont come with any holkes or marks...

    heres the link:
    http://www.kawasaki.com/Site/kawasak..._K53021099.pdf

you see they tell you to place the saddle bag two inches above the exahust...

ill go a head and order my exahust before i do the bags

thats a funny story about bumping the bike... I assume because of the fuel injection you had a troublesome time getting it going... But the alternator should have been able to keep the bike running ok once it was running... check your alternator output? then again if you have a lot of lights and such maybe it just couldnt keep up

well, i didnt have anything that would draw alot of power. the ground wire for my driving lights came un done, so they dont even work. i had never bump started before but i got it going a few times and as soon as i let the clutch out to keep from stalling, it would die.

thats good info to know... fuel injected ones may need that power in reserve to keep the fuel injectors crankin

    i dunno

maybe they need to be cleaned. its been sputtering some now on a cold start and ive been having the use the choke which i havent before. its just shy of 13k miles now. ive put 5k on it since i got it almost a year ago. i changed the oil in the spring, but i need to check it i guess. plugs were done too.

zuzuman - do you crack it open every now and again... i read that these bikes like high rpms now and again.. and if not give it a sea foam treatment...

    just some advice

this weekend in ocean city, all i did was crack it. when i ride, i like to make alot of noise for the head turns so i really wind it out. after it warms up, its fine.

Good deal zuzuman - I crack mine open as well... and I ordered the following:

    1. Roadhouse pipes with sharkfin tip
    2. Everything needed for an Okie smoke air system (OAS)

Quite frankly I cant wait to install all these items and then crack it open - I may have to let off earlier then I think from what I hear

i was looking into an aftermarket air intake, but i cant decide on what i want. i really really like the small cone filter intakes, but i think they would stick out to far. plus, id get one for each side to make it match. they hyper chargers are nice too, but expensive.
