hey ya'll look what i found!
![]() thats a functional jockey shift on a 1500. i wonder how hard it would be to do this. that would be so awesome to have on a drifter. the bike itself is for sale. http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/1/4/87416914.htm

my 800 drifter on page 15 has a jockey shift..homemade..check out pics there....it was very easy to do....hand clutch is on the shifter as most lower cost foot shift bikes are done....ride it and you will find out why its called a suicide shift...however i really dig it...

What has happened to all of the Drifters. 3 weeks since the last post. Just when I buy one you guys and gals stop posting. Whats up? VDOG has so much non-Drifter talk. Has everybody found some secret forum that you ae keeping from me? What, just because Im new to the Drifter family I don't get the secret hand shake? Maybe when they stop production every one gave theres away. I wish I knew that, because I spent way to much if I could have gotten one of the free ones. Anyway Im still looking for an answer. My 2006 came with the CA emision stuff and not a glove box (all the vacume hoses going to a box) how do I get rid of it and will it help proformance?

I have an 04 Drifter 1500. After my break-in first 500 miles, I ripped off the ?goats belly" and entire exhaust system and installed a pair of Samson pipes. It runs much better than with the original exhaust. There is one strange looking corrugated metal thing on the lower right side of the bike that I did not touch.
I'm not sure what that thing is and whether or not it can be removed???? |

It was a great day for a ride today in South Florida so I took the day off and took my new 06 800 Drifter out for its first shake down ride. I covered 300miles in 5 hours. I found a few problems.
1st Needs higher 5th gear for touring. 2nd Need to get a more comfortable helmet. 3rd Need to raise windshield 1 1/2 to 2 inches. 4th Need to ad cruise control. (does anyone make a true cruise control for these? Not just a throttle lock) All and all It is a really great bike. I will be adding: Cobra crash bar Saddleman Desperado saddlebags Saddle bag mounting system Brighter headlight bulb |

Hey Oldrifter. Bike looks great. I've never seen an 06 drifter in person (friend owns a red 2001 800). I thought the new paint combo was silver/black, but in your photos the side of the tank looks silver but the lower fender color (front and rear) looks white (with silver pinstripe). Is that just the lighting?

ok ya'll i need some help. ever since i got my drifter, ive noticed a wiggle/vibration in the front end. had it checked and balanced a few times, they said all was fine. so i pushed it aside and didnt think there was anything i could do to fix it. well, earlier this week,i had it at the shop and they did everything to get it ready for spring(plugs and all fluids changed and inspected) and i got it home and cleaned it up. was waxin the front fender and looked down and saw all the brake dust on my rim. so i wiped it off and found out why i had that wiggle in the front end. somehow, before i got it, the rim was bent. so now im looking everywhere online for a replacement. i dont want spokes, but i can deal with it if i cant find anything else. do ya'll know of where i could find a new front rim for a '99 1500?

I'm looking at a 1999 Drifter 1500 with just over 12K miles on it. Seems like a very good price and the bike looks like it's in very good condition. Any concerns I should have? Have you guys experienced anything that you think I should look for when inspecting the bike myself? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Has anyone put any of those Indian head Drifter stickers that you can buy on ebay on the side of there tank? Does the color match the 06 silver and black. If so what do they think of the quality of the item and how does it look. Is it a clear image or fuzzy? Was it easy to line up? Or is it a big no no? I know that the bike isnt an Indian and I dont want to be known as a poser but I really like the look and the flow of the Drifter in the headdress on the stick more than the big badge on the side of the tank.

I know the urge is strong but don't do it man. People will give you a hard time about it..
Indians are going to be rolling off the line again later this year.

Hi all,
Another noob here. I thought about going the indian decal route, but I figured that I'd get teased about my "fake" indian, so I decided not to. Seen a few that have had the indian decals on the tank, still looks good, tho. |
