IMHO forget about the nylon and go after some leather used or newer sabblebags. nylon is more for a sport tourer ride.

    For info
The ignition relocation mod for the EN500,VN800 and VN1500 are partially posted on Paul Andreasen's Motorcycle Mods Page.
The whole mod and kit aren't done but you can see what they will do and look like. We found out the same kit will fit the above bikes as they use the same console parts!

yeah i gotta find some nice leather ones...

    time to take some measurements

heh my battery died last night too much crap on it i guess...

Time for a new battery anyway - 2000 bike never changed the battery

I gotta plug my heated clothes in, brakes on, highbeams on, light bar on and see if the battery still charges.

If it dont, i wonder if there is a way to put a "larger" alternator?

my battery died on me this past weekend. left me sittin about an hour away. luckly i was able to get a jump to make it home. i think its the LED bulb in the tail light. i got it home in the garage, shut er down and tried to restart ad she was dead. hooked up the charger and let it sit over night and took it back off and she fired right up. even took it for a ride and it was fine. i put the stock bulb back in, so i think it will be fine for now.

has anyone installed a power commander yet? i really need one, but i dont have the money for one yet. how hard is it to install?

Wow man... I honestly dont think an LED tail light will cause the battery to die like that.

I would be careful. - make sure the battery is not on its way out.

This makes me hold off on the smoked tail lights for now

Im pretty sure the LED pulls alot less current vs the stock bulbs. Could be just the colder weather and less use of the ride that weakend the battery.

My bike wouldnt start this morning. going to go get a trickle charger as we speak. good luck fellas.

I bought some really nice ones off of ebay a couple of years back. Had to make my own brackets, but the bags themselves are killer. I'll try and find the vendor.

Btw, new to the forum hello everyone

After reading up on some previous posts, I think I'd like to share a few pics of my boike with you good people Where I live, Drifters are pretty rare. I know of about 15 across 3 provinces, and most of them are done up like Indians, so I wanted to do something a little different. I'm open to comments/suggestions.

Welcome SubmarinerWolfe! Beauty of a Drifter you have there.
I love the two-tone bags with the studs, very nice.

yea, the stock bulbs in the tail lights are red. but with the smoked lenses, they look orange, but they're just as bright as the LED. and they actually fit better. with the LED, that metal shroud around the bulb had to be removed, but with the LED, the socket kept falling out and thats why the light didnt work sometimes. but it seems fine now. i started it up last night and it ran fine.

The Ignition relation mod for the EN500 and VN800 is DONE!! Pricing on Paul Andreasen's Motorcycle Mods Page. Not doing this as a business but through my business (using it's money) so hopefully I don't go broke making kits instead of just mine!!! (wonder how many of the kit "requesters" I will see ORDERING!)
Turned out better than I thought. Experienced install, maybe an hour or less. Amateur, maybe two hours. NOTHING required but the kit, and a cold brew (or warm tea for back home in Maine) Will have instructions for the do-it myself crowd soon.

eBay Store on eBay Canada – RACAPOSHI-TASHMEA: Search results for Drifter.

Anyone looking for saddlebags, these are the ones I bought for mine. I wouldn't suggest using the mounts that come with them as they involve drilling into your fender, but the bags are great!
