Hi, I'm new to this board and glad that I found it. I have a 2004 Drifter 800 and love It. My Dad and Uncle used to ride Indians when I was just a child and now when I ride my Drifter I think about them both always. I can't see spending for what a new Indian costs when we have a better bike for a whole lot less. I have two bikes and will never part with my Drifter.

Mornin' All

Bought a 2000 Drifter 800 a few months back and did the MSF BRC a couple of weeks ago after being off bikes for 35 years. Got the bike for $3500. Less than 10K miles on it, custom paint. light bar, and windshield. Love riding it.
Need to change out the front sprocket so I'm not constantly looking for a higher gear at hiway speeds.

Any other mods that are generally thought to be needed?

Hi everyone. I have a 2002 800 Drifter and I'm sort of disappointed in the lack of performance parts I can find for this thing. Does anyone know of any aftermarket carbs for these bikes?

a different rear one will be fine too

i use 17/38 ratio i like it

as for performance mods on these bikes... tons of stuff... but without getting expensive... you are looking at jets, exhaust and intake

Front and rear sprockets

Now the expensive stuff???

Boring out cyl heads, custom cam, crank shafts nitrous connecting rods...

if you got loads of cash you can do whatever you want... but you would still be better off getting a larger bike to start with

how much do you want to spend?

Basically anything you can think of that you can do to a car you can do to a bike... it gets very costly after the simple three

simple three = intake exhaust, jets, and sprockets

Yeah, I understand what all can be done custom. I just meant the simple stuff doesn't seem to be available for our bikes. Like aftermarket performance ignitions for instance. Unless I just could not find them.

Oh, and I also wanted to know if anyone has ever got rid of the floorboards on the drifter and went to a forward peg setup? I sometimes find the floorboards get in the way and scrape often.

I agree with you here 100%... but have not found any bolt on foward controls...

scootworks.com has various stuff

also this website (beartoothkawasaki) has tons of stuff - support them, that is the forum you are using

as for ignition... what are you trying to do... advance timing? stronger spark... im confused

Yes, there are aftermarket ignition modules that allow you the select from various timing curves, advances, or retards, dynotron I think is one, and megacam makes a performance cam.

Thanks guys!

This is my first cruiser so I'm still trying to ride it like a sportbike. I scrape the pegs on just about every turn. LOL

I wasn't really trying to do anything yet. I just got new coils for it and was hoping to get some MSD's or something and just noticed there was none available.

Trust me, I don't do it on purpose. LOL I remember my first ride on the Drifter, I actually traded it for a 96 GSXR track bike. I took it down the street, was like learning to ride all over again, then I went to make my first turn and scrrrrrrrrape! Scared the crap out of me. Now when I scrape it still startles me but I'm getting used to it. I'd just rather have forward controls I think. I was thinking maybe the regular Vulcans would bolt right on but it's not looking that way.
