Mercury,
I got my pipes from the dealership. They are 3" Hard Chrome Double D's. I think their hard to find cuz most Double D's are full length shotgun pipes. Yeah I've thought about getting them ceramic coated black or maybe even putting exhaust wrap on them. I had the bike professionally painted so ya the stripped the old paint. Our bikes did look pretty similar.. before I got it painted that is |

Hey BamBam is that the Kawi seat? I just bought one the stealer had lying around. It came with a sissy bar and the mounting bracket for the seat. I got them for the dealer cost of the sissy bar becaue thats what they had in their inventory.
It appears that two struts of some sort to hold the seat in place on the sides. I was wondering if that came with the whole seating bracket or if it comes seperately? I honeslty dont mind ordering another seat bracket because the one I got was free. |

I finially got my drifter almost done. where to start?? i bent up a front sheetmetal mount out of 20 ga steel to cover the forks and give it that "fat boy" look. I then took the stock headlight bracket, cut it in half, and welded it onto a 1"x1" angle and welded this onto the panel, thus making the headlight like a harley front. I shaved the stock blinkers, recessed two tiny led lights in the panel for blinkers and primed and painted the whole thing gloss black to match the rest of the bike.
From there, i bought an aftermarket steel "Indian" fender from J@P cycles. I wanted it to hug the front tire real close, so I cut the mounting holes out of it and welded in new ones to lower the fender. The look is great and with the factory cut out for the caliper hugging the forks, it looks like it was made for it without having that plastic cover over the caliper. I made 5/8" bushings with rubber washers to mount the fender and added an Indian headlight for the nostalgic look. Dunlop Cruisemax WW's round out the front end. Onward to the left side, I moved the rectifier to the front and added a tool bag where it once was. I wanted a unique look, so I moved the ignition switch to the left side engine cover and painted it black except for the center. I'm working on maching an Indian head penny for a key cover or maybe an arrowhead. To the rear. I smoothed the rear fender and filled all the holes. I then took a black license plate bracket and mounted it to the fender exactly between the hole that is in the swingarm. I then mounted a glass lense old school bobber tailight to the license bracket. I cut off the factory blinker studs and welded up the tops of the tube with a 8mm nut. I then put allen head bolts in them for caps which I will eventually weld on Indian head pennies to carry on the theme. For blinkers, i welded two tiny plates between the small arms on the swingarm and put matching blinkers from the front and recessed them in there. They are almost totally hidden till they are on. The right side so far is almost stock except for blacking out the air cleaners. However plans for a custom exhaust like the German guys is in full swing with a power commander to boot. Im currently changing every bolt to black allen heads or black grade 8 for motor mounts. I just blacked out the mirrors and am working on the rest of the engine hardware. Im shaving everything on the frame not necessary, like helmet holders and such. I massaged the tins with coat after coat of primer then wet sanded between each coat. After baby-butt smooth, we applied 1959 Ford tan and gloss black two-tone uerathane paint. Again, sanding between each coat till it was perfectly smooth. Then came time for a highly metallic silver stripe around the tear drop on the tank and both fenders. This was finially followed by many, many, many coats of clear coat. I have to say it is beautiful and very nostalgic looking. Im not bragging, but just wanted to share that I finially brought my dream to reality and wanted to show her off. Ill be posting pictures tomorrow!! |

Anyone have any pics of Drifters without the Drifter fenders? I'm thinking, if I can find some, of trying to loose the Drifter fenders and just have a small fender up front and like a bobber style on in the rear.
