Hi all... I have a 2000 drifter, and im done looking for saddle bags, im going to just go with something i know WORKS and should look good.
Im asking if anybody has this exact setup on their drifter and how they like it - all kawasaki parts: 1. Saddlebag Mounting Brackets (K53021-100) 2. Black Saddlebag Supports (K53021-099) 3. Maverick II Saddlebags Plain (K53000-227) Questions 1. Both the mounting bracket and the support page on kawasakis website says the following: "• For use with stock or Fire & Steel™ double saddle only" Is that ok for the mavrick II ... man they just dont make it easy I found this website https://halcyon.webair.com/roushmoto...cPath/38_61_82 where they sell aftermarket kawasaki stuff cheap - so ill buy everything there - im getting my bags there, maybe some other accessories, and a bunch of stuff for my dads 800 classic Any opinions or comments please post back! Anybody have the mavrick II on their drifter? Oh heres a pic of my bike and truck : http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.c...ury/667267.jpg Thanks! Ken

i have the fire and steel supports and bags. im not sure what type of bags they are, but they're plain.
so i de-baffled my pipes last week. its extremely loud and changed the sound of the bike. before it had kind of a choppy sound, which i liked, but now its deep and throaty. when im riding and pull the clutch to shift, it gets very loud, kinda like a jake brake on a big rig. its awesome. i think it might be a little too loud though. i was riding with some guys on sunday and the guy leading was about 20yds ahead of me and he could hear my bike loud and clear even through a full face helmet. i also set off my first car alarm and a bike alarm at the bike show on sunday. on our way home, since i took my bags off, i had a very heavy backpack on. after crusing on the interstate for an hour going 90-95mph with that back pack, i some how managed to pull the muscles in my chest and shoulder on the left side. i had to go to the ER on monday b/c it hurt so bad. so i wont be riding any long distances for a few weeks.

Sorry to hear about your chest... feel better Its hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like you have two pipes... my stock one is two into one. I may try to find pipes for the 800 drifter and a hypercharger kit.. Dont want to debaffle the pipes yet... but it sounds like an option! kenny

im not sure if you can debaffle the 800. if you have the stock exhaust, you propbably cant. and if you do get pipes and the charger, you'll have to mod the carb. since my 1500 is EFI, i dont need to. i have the Sampson Slasher pipes. they are dual straight pipes w/ no restriction now. but to take the baffles out, there should be a screw on each pipe(aftermarket) towards the tips on the back side. mine had allen heads. you just take those screws out and take a pair of needle nose pliars and work them out. my lower pipe had a little rust, but the top was already loose.

I found a 2001 drifter 800 that I really like, however, I'm new to this and don't really know what things should cost. The bike has 11,000 miles, needs a new rear tire, has had the floorboards removed and forward controls added, has corbin bags and corbin seat. It seems in good condition. Can anyone give a ballpark figure on what might be a fair offer for the bike? Bluebook value is around $4,200. I think the owner wants $6,000 for it, and I guess I'm a little suspicious that that is a bit high. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Oh, and I just passed the MSF course, everyone should take it.

I bought my drifter 800 last october... its a 2000 I got it for 4600. It had 1450 miles Thats right - 14 hundred miles! who knows how the guy treated the bike in 11000 miles. Look at kawasaki.com you can get a brand new one for 7400... if you argue with kawasaki you can walk out the door for that price. I wouldnt buy it Kenny

New one for yas...
The brakes on my drifter almost sound like they are grinding after a few hard stops. I felt the front disc and it feels like it has grooves in it... the back side of it does not though... I guess i should check my fathers classic and see if it has grooves in it.. The bike stops great, just wondering why theres grooves there on the rotor itself Kenny

I saw a few Drifters before I got mine brand new. They were never as described or had shady paper work. One guy told me the lien was paid off.............not according to DMV. At that point, I decided new was the way to go.

Yeah, New is the way to go. Shopped for Drifters on EBAY and locally as well. I had found only one 2001 1500 that the previous owner had popped the baffles on the stock exhaust,(sounded really bad) screwed up the airbox and dropped it to boot, bending the bars and floorboard/rear brake pad. Still wanted 4000+ for it. Shook my head and had the dealer order me a new 2005 800. Traded in my 77' Wing and 4500 cash and have been happy ever since.

sounds good wolf...
I took my tip off the stock pipe yesterday, and im convienced its not easy to debaffle the 2 into 1 pipes... so my next step is to get some roadhouse pipes with sharkfin tip, maintain a stock look, but with aftermarket sound! Whadda all think? Next after the pipes will be an intake of some sort then either I got to mod the carb or buy a new aftermarket carb... is there aftermarket ones that are setup to just bolt on? thanks, Kenny
