    Default Exhaust Pipes and Dynos?

    Ok folks time to go one step further...
    There seem to be a few of us looking into buying pipes.
    Whats the number of existing aftermarket pipe owners that have done dyno tuning?
    Lets see some of those numbers from stock to what ever you have now!!

    Pipes alone don't typically add a much hp if any. No point in dyno tuning unless you buy an aftermarket Fuel Injection module (Cobra FI or PowerCommander III for example). And that's not really necessary just for pipes alone.

    I understand...but normally a guy will add the air and do dynos.
    Sometimes the pipes will make a diff...it would be fun to see the differences that arise with the differing hardware!

    Pipes do make a difference. Don't get me wrong. Definitely depends on the pipes. Generally speaking, 2 into 1 pipes will you give you more of an HP boost, and then for 2 into 2 pipes the more diameter the better. Usually. 3" pipes, for example.

    I personaly would love to see some dyno numbers.There is so many different combo's for so many models, It would give me an idea as to what to expect...I currently know what I want for pipes, but I have no idea what air kit is better for my bike. Or is the powercommander a better buy.The numbers would tell the story. That is why I would love to see numbers.

    i did straight pipes and a PCIII to richen the mixture. i dont know what the stock HP is, but i think i now have 65 or 68 HP

    correction: what i have is 63 HP and 79 TQ
    oo lazy to scan the dyno sheets, but thats what i got with pipes and power commander

    Here is my dyno sheet. Max Hp is 57.6 Max TQ is 48. Not too bad for an 800. Has V&H Cruzers, Intake/airbox mod and rejetted. All done by me. With a little prodding from others........

    Dyno Numbers 67rwhp and 99rwtq, that is with cobra pipes, intake, PCIII

    Here are my Dyno runs with the custom dealer maps after my mods.
    and


    The first one is bone stock, then with the Speedsters and PCIII
    The second one is with the Speedsters and PCIII, then with the Tornado added.
    As you can see.... adding air is where you get the juice.
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    COOL...I just love performance increases...Does anyone have......by chance....any numbers on 05 Nomads? (V&H baggers pipes,thunders air kit, and a powercommander) PLEASE....

    I didn't dyno after adding pipe (Muzzy 2-1), but after pipe, Tornado and pciii I'm getting 80 HP and 100 Lb Ft. I would guess just the pipe would add a few HP.

    I'm just curious...You said that you weren't as happy with the dealer map as the one you're running now. What was it that you didn't like about it? Drivability, running characteristics or what? Those look like pretty good numbers for the mods you did.. Do you think you're getting more out of your bike now?

    Seems much smoother on takeoff with more roll-on "ummpph". Not very technical I know, but I'm not really a numbers guy so I never bothered to get another dyno to verify my "seat of the pants" feeling. The map I ended up using is also an "advanced" (seperate cylinders) map, and there is some difference between the two, so I am assuming that the tech who programmed it had more training then the tech that I paid to do mine. Don't get me wrong... it was fine, just the one I got online felt noticeably better.
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
