Default MS Engine guard question

For those of you that bought an engine guard for your Mean Streak, can you post which one you bought and if the install was fairly simple. THanks.

I had put on the F&S guards and they looked good. They were a little tricky to get on (definitely nice to have a second pair of hands). I had to take them off after riding it a couple of times. I have forward controls and my calves were pressed firmly against the guards. Riding this way was very uncomfortable. They might work better with stock controls. I am still looking at this time.

I think this is one of those accessories where the F&S is superior in looks to any of the other manufactured engine guards.

Yep, both good and bad with the F&S guards.
Pros: Looks. They wrap nicely with the lines of the bike and are not generic cruiser hoops.
Cons: Very tight fit with Thunder/Hyper charger intakes. Confining with forward controls/Kuryakyn cruise pegs.

I'd still like to see what the Lindby bars look like on a Meanie; they are excessively expensive, but double as highway pegs and look like they'd save the side of the bike if you dropped it. Very nice looking units, but I'd have to see them on a bike first. Otherwise the F&S look real good, but there was some back and forth on an earlier thread as to whether they'd save the tank or not. A few people said from experience that they work.

One thing about the Lindby bars as well, they use O rings on the foot pegs. I had a set of highway pegs that used O rings as well. I had to replace the O rings at least once a year, usually twice a year as they would dry, crack and break. Wasn't a big deal with the highway pegs as I just unbolted one bolt and then could slide the O rings on / off, but with the Lindby bars, you're going to have to remove the bars to replace the O rings.

Yep, no tan though, still one very white caucasian dude, gotta love that #30 sun screen. Not into the tanning thing at all and it worked. The day we snorkelled at Hanauma Bay, I ran up the beach to get rid of my fins, and Jodie said she watched me on the beach and compared and I was definitely the whitest dude on the beach! Posted a thread in the Rides section with a link to the pics. I still have to develop the underwater camera shots that I took while we were snorkelling but I don't think they will be that great.

I was the one who kindly tested the F&S bars with a drop to the right. The right foot peg was badly bent, but not a mark on the tank. Obviously, they wouldn't be as protective as the wider engine guards in a variety of drops.
