Curby- I agree. I think they are way too wide- should have been pulled back like you said.
I have loosen the riser bolts and moved the bars down which helped a little. Be careful not to move them too far- they will hit the tank. I am in the process of installing a set of pull-back risers. Once on I will then cut 1.5" off both ends of the bars. The idea is to bring the bars closer to me and also reduce the width. I love the seat on this bike but think they could have selected a better set of bars.

david hit it on the head-moving them down a little helps some
also i noticed that after putting my backrest on it keeps more forward in the seat closer tp the bars-at first it felt like it pushing me too far forward but know i have gotten quite comfortable
