Yeah I'm trying to pass the time of waiting for this bike to arrive. So what better way then to talk about it.
What kind of noises can I expect to hear out of my 99 nomad? Engine noises, tranny, rattles, knocks, pings, clutch chatter, etc etc etc. My 93 1500 vulcan had some lower engine knocking, which in another forum sounds like it could be the dampers, it also had some clutch chatter. Just curious as to what kind of noises I can expect to hear. So when I ride it down the road I don't say AH OH!!!! |

You'll hear a low rumbling jolly sound, that normally escalates into a cackle of pure joy...but it's usually emanating from inside the helmet.

What noises on a vulcan?
LOTS of them..knocking clatter, etc from the engine, especially when cold. You grow very used to it and don't hear them anymore. Once you get the pipes you will never notice. "they all do it and none of em break!" ..that's what the service dude at GM said about the noisy rear end in my truck, lol

Aside from mimicking R2D2...you may hear some noises from the clutch basket as well. When you pull in the clutch it will lessen and return as you let the clutch out while in neutral. |

Harleys start up, they make noise. Vulcans start up, they hum. Even with stock pipes, I never considered my Vulcans (1990 and 2001) noisy. Wouldn't know with the new one, since I had them put Roadhouse pipes on before I took delivery. But just letting her warm up, I don't hear ANYTHING that doesn't belong with a big twin.
