Exclamation Looking for raked triple trees for 05 Vulcan 800A

Does anyone have pictures of a Vulcan 800A with a 6 or 7 degree raked triple trees, or can you direct me to a website with pictures. My dealer can get me a 7degree raked triple tree, but I have no idea of what this would look like on this bike. I have drag bars, muzzy drag pipes, a hypercharger and mapam forward foot controls. Any and all help with decision would really really help!

    Thanks
    Troy

RobJ, nice bike pics but they really don't show a side profile which would help me make my decision.

CowboyBob, I got my muzzy's from the dealer, but I have not picked up my bike yet. I bought it last week and told them to keep the bike till all the extra's were on the bike. I pick up the bike this Saturday!

Do yourself a favor and make some calculations before you buy and install raked trees! Trees with that much rake in em could make your trail very unstable and hard to ride the bike. Here is a link to a simple rake and trail calculator.

Raked trees are great, for what they're designed for. Raked trees are not a poor man's chop, its a great way to put your trail WAY out and make a bike that handles like crap. Raked trees are designed to give you a chance to put a bike that has had the rake in the frame modified the ability to put the trail back into a better number. Basically to take a bike that would have ****ty handling due to the rake in the frame and put it back to where it should be. With 34deg of rake on an 800, 6-7deg trees would put you out to 40deg. Which is all well and good, bikes look really good with that rake, BUT your trail would be around 5 inches, which would give you very very bad flop.

Yes that is more than what I asked for, But it doesn't help with my decision, to go with a 7 degree rake or not. Please understand I need all the help I can get this, this is a big decision. So far I'm leaning towards doing it, I just want to see if someone else has done it, or as picture of a bike that was done.

So It sounds like you know a little more about this, I was planning on doing the 7 degree rake and lowering the bike a little to level it out. I have seen the rake and trail calculator but I don't understand it, or understand the information on how it would change the handling of the bike.

A lot of information has been written on this, google rake and trail and be prepared to feel like you're in high school geometry. If you have questions about what you read I'd be more then happy to help you, but I leave for work here in a few minutes and can't really help in detail at this moment.

Well from talking to mortons custom cycles, I have found that, they custom make their triple trees, to 7degrees, but because they custom make them, they maintain the same trail, losing only a fraction of a half inch. Sounds good to me, get the rake I want, not lose any handling. Unless you guys out there have heard something, I haven't. Let me know. Also anymore pics would still help!

    Thanks

The Seeger kit is overpriced. Yes, you get a lot of "stuff", but do you need it?

If I was going to run a longer hydraulic front end (and I wouldn't, the stock ride is rough enough), I'd use Morton's parts.

Check out a shop called CB Customs. They make springers specifically for Vulcans. Good looks, smoother ride, no more front end dive under braking loads. For that matter, a 9 inch overstock HD spec springer is a direct bolt on, just use the HD stem bearing kit.

Not interested in springers front ends, but I did place my order today for Morton's 7 degree kit, the dealer said that they don't use the tube extenders that come with the kit, this lowers the bike and maintains a good ride, I will have to lower the back of the bike, but that fine, it will give the bike that street chopper look. Do you have a picture of your bike? I'm interested in seeing what other guys do with their vn800a to customize them.

I'll get you a couple pics over the weekend after I put the freshly painted parts back on. I kinda went the other way up front with a 19" wheel and 12" apes.

Just google cbcustoms. They advertise in Road Bike and a couple other metric magazines. And I can't find one of those mags around my house.
