Ok, so you want to know how to get your wife to buy you a brand new leather jacket, regardless of price? Read on. There really is a funny story in this whole ordeal (or at least I think so).
After being married for 5 years and having 4 kids (3 boys and a girl), my wife finally let me get a new bike. So I got a new 2006 Drifter 800. Granted, I did have to get her a house and a new mini-van first. It's a very nice ride. Very sleek and the fenders just shout "Look at me!" The exhaust, however, just whispers. So, I rationalized with her, if people can hear me then they will be looking for me. So, as a matter of safety Then I suggested that highway bars/engine guard would be a good idea because in the dreadful event that I did go down it would help protect the engine and could make the difference between a $3000 repair bill and a $300 repair bill. To add, it would help protect my leg from being pinned between the bike and the ground. I was also able to convince her that a duel saddle would allow me to take her out on the town. We just have to get someone to baby sit first. I actually got her to agree with getting the saddle before she let me get the highway bars and exhaust. I think the saddle has to come first because of what happened next. So what was left but to get a new riding jacket? Well, she wasn't going for that. "But Pretty," (that's my pet name for her) I explained, "a good jacket really can provide a lot of protection. First off, it helps sheild you from the frigid weather." So she said, "Well, you're not going to be riding in the winter. Your current jacket is good enough." Then I explained, "Good tough leather provides further protection in the case that I end up sliding down the asfault. It could be the difference between a few bumps and bruises and being ground into mince meat." She just replied, "We've already spent too much money on your bike. Just don't wreck." So, I just conceded, full knowing I finally reached the limit and I let it go. No jacket for me. Then, just yesterday, after riding to work I came home to go with her and the kids to the doctors office. Four kids between the ages of 6 months and 10 years can be a hand full for one person, to say the very least. Well, anyway, I was in the process of adjusting my mirrors for optimum visibility so I convinced her that I should ride while she drives the mini-van with the kids. So she followed me to the doctors office. When we finally got to the doctors office and parked she got out of the mini-van and the first thing she said was, "Alright, as soon as we're done here we're going to get you a jacket and some boots because you look like a retard wearing that ugly coat while riding such a nice bike." Leave it to a woman to decide a leather jacket is necissary for fassion reasons rather than safety. (Just to note, although that might seem a sexist remcark, I'm not at all sexist. I just couldn't think of any other way to state it.) Now I'm working on chaps and a hyper-charger. |

Hi, I was married for 23 years, divorced now but my ex and I are still very good friends. During the marriage I can relate to how the wife "lets" us do this, or "allows" us to do that and "permits" us to have etc. etc.. I was fine with it and really didn't think much about it. But as a single guy now...wow does it ever sound weird now. Just a retrospect thought is all. Sounds like you have a great family, it isn't always easy, congrats. Have fun.

I just DO it simplified just because wife never asks when she bursts out on things she goes "oooops" when she is gathering all her receipts after a shopping trip. I leave her alone if she leaves me alone. Spending within reason off course, if new appliances, car...larger purchases involving much overa thousand I consult her.....otherwise....don't show, don't tell. Otherwise I would have no guns, no motorcycle...no fun.
Funny how she tells me that I "never told her" I was into motorcycles, guns, hunting before we got married. I asked her, so U thought I was a "evenukk" and a dud at the end of the kitchen table?? |

If it's within reason, & a leather jacket is well within reason, I just get it & say Oh, BTW. Then ask forgivness & offer sexual favors.
No prob!!

nice story.
funniest part was her reason for getting you the jacket. forget safety, forget anything positive about getting the jacket. simply because you looked like a retard was good enough reason..ROTFLMAO

My Pretty is a GODDESS!!! She got me the nicest riding jacket in the leather shop. But at over $500 I think I lost a couple years off my life. I would have been happy with one less than half that price.

Seperate checkbooks - combined bills - each takes care of certain expenses - all designed to leave equal amounts in checkbooks. Then buy what ever you want when ever you want. Been married for 31 years. Works like a charm.
