Squid or common practice

Riding home from work tonite i saw something that slightly angered me. I saw a fellow rider pass 2 cars by pulling into the right turn lane at a red light. When the light turned green he took off straight a cut off a truck. If it had been a H-D I would have been a little less angry but, he was on a nice looking nomad.

Am i just over-reacting or is this guy just doing something that is normal.

Thats the 'Right Lane Light Hop'
Very common here, but you don't have to be on a cycle. People do it all the time in cages, and on cycles. Illegal as hell, but haven't seen anyone get nailed for it. Especially when the sign says 'Right Lane MUST Turn Right'

That doesn't surprise me at all ...compared to some of the really stupid crap that people try to pull on a daily basis, like jumping off the light to turn left before oncoming traffic can get started. Get someone who is even more of an a**hat than you are who might be willing, and able, to race to the other side of the intersection and you are going to find yourself short on asphalt and long on medical bills.

Perfectly normal to see someone doing something stupid any day of the week either on two wheels or four. Today I saw a guy on a ratty looking Yamaha weaving quickly in between rush hour traffic. His only protection was and old looking MX helmet. obviously a Genius in action.
