I'm pondering purchasing a kawasaki leather solo seat for my MS but have never seen one, let alone sit on one. Can anyone here give me some input as to fit, quality and comfort of these seats ? Even if you have the two-up vs. solo, what are your opinions ? I can get one of these for about $70./less than the Corbin or Mustang. Thx, Troop

Honestly if I were you I'd go for the Corbin Hollywood solo. It's very reasonably priced and you can have the seat made with whatever finishes you want. I've seen the F&S special edition, (sharkskin inlay), solo seat on another local meanie and talked to the owner. He said it wasn't very comfortable and that he only bought it for the look. The Corbin looks like it would give some lower back support which is always nice if you like to use the throttle.

+1 to Corbin. Never used a Kawi aftermarket seat, but you can find BARGAINS on Corbins (and Sargents) on Ebay if cost is an issue. My Corbin is by far the best accessory ever for my bike... SO comfy, and it cradles your hiney, so you don't slide back in the seat. I've never once had hiney or leg numbness on a long ride...

+2 on the Corbin. I'd say get the Young Guns, it has a decent amount of lower back support and really sucks you into the bike. It was an awesome seat.

I have a Corbin DT and I love it. Want a solo seat/fender bib for 80% use. I'm leaning for the corbin but looking for opinions on the Kaw seat.. Troop

My '05 Nomad seat was terrible, too hard. I bought the XL raw gel cushion and installed it under the seat covering. Just marked the size of the gel pad on the foam, cut on the dotted line and then removed about an inch of foam in the entire area. The cover was glued to the original foam but I did not glue it back when I replaced the cover. So far I am happy with the feel of the seat but have not reinstalled the sheepskin over the cover. It seems good the way it is but the sheepskin will cut down on perspiration on hot summer days. Bought the gel from Beartooth Kawasaki.

My price quotes are:
1. Kawasaki leather solo: $220. 2. Mustang solo:$270. 3. Corbin Hopllywood solo: $260. The Corbin Hollywood is a low profile seat so it won't have the back support like my Dual Tourer or the Young Gun. Plus it's 1" lower and I'm already low enough with my 36" inseam. I would just like to see a Kawa aftermarket seat..

I have the Meanstreak Kawa upgraded stock 2 up version and like it very much actually. And I pop the girlie on the back all the time, she's never complained and i've asked a few times. We've taken some longer trips too...4+hrs stopping only once for food.
But I am pretty comfortable on it and never seem to have much issue with soreness etc...looks nice overall as well. It's definately not the same as a solo of course but it looks nice on the bike. Hope that helps. |

Well, I just had my dealer order me a Kawasaki solo leather seat along with a Hopnel fender bib. Hope to have them wednesday. I saw some pix of the seat installed on MS's at www.cruisercustomizing.com, and along with favorable feedback, I hope I like it. Still have my Corbin DT seat for two-up and long rides.. My dealer will mee or beat Ron Greenes $218. price, so ....

I purchased a Mustang seat for my 06 900 classic when they became avaible.
Great seat. Seeing so many 900 around I wanted to change the look on my ride. Bought a Saddleman Solo seat for about $200 For a gel seat, it was like riding on the frame. Replaced it with my mustang. No wonder I never see a 900 with a solo seat. Larry |
