Default 900 LT wind shield

I have a 900 LT with about 400 miles. I am short, 5'6" and with the shield in the lowest position I get an unbearable wind buffeting at my ear. I had to take the shield off.

I think it's a combination of the steep evrtical angle, the height, my height and the width of the handlebars. I was thinking about slotting the bracket to allow the shield to angle more aft. I was also thinking about cutting the height down.

Before I go through destructive modifications can anyone please give me some feedback on their experiences.

Thanks.

If your bike does not have lowers on it...you'll want to add them to stop the buffetting.

Welcome to the forum. I have to agree with whistle. Everyone swears by them lowers, you should probably try that before you take the tools to your windshield.

I put my windsheild on for the late fall and just took it off last week. I will run the bike all summer with out it. It helps with the cold but they do Buffet. Even with lowers even though it is less.

I personally like riding with it off and think the bike looks better.

Do you think a "generic" set of lowers would fit? As you know, aftermarket parts for the 900 are not found yet!!! We would love to add lowers to ours.

Cheri, try contacting Moxy. If anyone can make them, I bet he can.

I appreciate the input. Summer is here and the bike does look better without the shield. Cruiser bikes are new too me. I haven't ridden in 15 years and my last bike was a Suzuki GS 1100 E (sport bike circa 1982 ) so cruiser bikin is a bit different. The wind in my face and sitting upright is a little different for me but I am liking it.

In looking at the shield though I do question the vertical nature of it's design. I'm not ready to modify it..yet but I have a gut feeling that has something to do with the turbulent air flow.

Yea that LT shield has a lot of buffeting. I am often eating my goatee for lunch on my highway rides when I use it. Thank god I don't have a big long biker beard or else I probably wouldn't be able to see anything at all!
