I personally spent a lot of money on a good rain suit (arouns $400) I got a Monarch. But if you think you might just get hit by accident get a Walmart special. I got it because when I want to ride nothing will stop me. The suit I got is amazing. It breathes like I was wearing nothing and I am completely dry.

windshield - no, saddle bags can be treated with armoral or any of the leather conditioners available.

get a good rain suit if you're going to spend time in the rain. i don't know about $400, but a good rain suit can make the difference between a fun ride and a really bad time.

If you get a bike with hard bags like the Nomad there is no need to do anything, the edges of the doors are also sealed with rubber to keep water out. I bought Frogg Toggs, which are breathable, and light weight. They were much less than $400 but then I don't get hit by rain too often but the breathable type suit will at least keep you from getting too warm and sweaty.

One thing..... NEVER use Armoral on your seat, unless you want your crotch up on the speedo when you panic stop. Give a new meaning to Crotch Rocket. Passenger seat might be a possiblility if the chick has lots of padding up front. Bumper pool time.

Lemon Pledge for the windshield. Makes the water, bugs, and dirt slide right off.

i use armorall on all rubber, leather and imitation leather on the bike, seat included. it does make it slippery for a time, but not long and it preserves and protects the item.
