I have seen that Kawasaki sells passenger footboards for the 1500 classic. My questions is... does anyone know if these footboards will fit the '05 1600 classic? I do realize that Cobra sells passenger footboards for the 1600, however they say Cobra on them. I would rather not advertise for Cobra. Does anyone know if there are any other manufacturers that make passenger footboards specifically for the 1600 classic.
Thanks djay |

I did purchase the 1500 passanger floor boards and put them on my 1600 classic. They worked just fine. The wife has no complaints. It seems the bracket part # for the 1600 is the same as the 1500. It does seem that the floor boards do tile down very slightly at the front but they should be no problem for the passanger. I did look at the Cobras but like you I just wanted to keep as much of the bike original equipment. Good Luck.

I purchased the chrome and rubber floorboards from Kuryakyn for my 1600. Very nice, easy to install. I also added the toe and heel shifter pegs and the passenger pegs as well as the Kuryakyn brake pad. All of it works nicely together and all are very easy to install.

I looked at quite a few and decided on the Cobra. Direct bolt on item amd very high quality. I understand what you say, but its hard to customize the 1600 and use only OEM parts. I have also added chrome brake caliper trim to match the floorboards. Good luck. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/Jiffyjam

I went with the 1500 Classic Fire & Steel Passenger Floorboards on my 1600 Classic & they work great, the wife loves them! I mainly wanted the winged vulcan symbol to match my sissy bar.

wvKawBoy...
Did you have to do any modifications to get them to fit? Do they bolt on with the same brackets that the 1600 footpegs use? I just want to make sure that they dont need any modifications. I talked to my local kaw dealer today, they were telling me that they do not fit. I dont particularly trust what they are telling me... Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks |

Would I steer you wrong??? Here is a photo I took in early May way after I last updated my accessory list. Don't be afraid, take the plunge.

It looks like they tilt down in the front, does this interfere with function? ( Rear floorboards )

I'm sure they function ok, but it looks like your feet would angle down and maybe strain the ankles a bit on a long ride. Ok, now I see an earlier post about the tilt, guess its ok..

They do tilt down a bit but the Queen says they are great. Way better than the pegs she says. Good luck.

I have Custom World floorboards on my 1600. They look great (I think), however they are not vibration isolated like the OEM front boards. I do not know if the OEM rear boards are vibration isolated, that is a big plus. For what it's worth I'm not a Cobra anything fan, I had cobra driver and passanger boards on my 800 (and other Cobra stuff) their quality is hit and miss sometimes the parts fit sometimes they don't.
