Default is ther a big difference?

Right now I have an 05 meanie, VH straight shots. I love the bike, but a guy I ride with has an 04 Nomad that is decked out. It has absolutely everything, pipes, pc, intake, custom paint, every little thing an gaget that can be added. It has 23,000 miles. Is ther a big difference in the power between a stock 1600 and a tricked out 1500? He only wants $10,000 may even go lower. I asked him to wait one week, to see If I can sell the meanie. But I would like to know If there is a big diff in the two motors? Thanks, Jamie

I just made the switch from a MS to a Nomad. I had an '02 MS 1500 with pipes, caddmann and PCIII USB. I can't address the 1600 vs. 1500 power but I can say that once you get on a Nomad you will probably never regret doing it. Regardless of the power. The Nomad is just one sweet smooth ride. But don't expect the power or throttle response of the MS.

Nomad, What a great bike for a jouney. Go someplace, for what it is designed to do it does it great. I have an 06 and love it. It get's better every ride. I feel sorry for those that spent more for less bike. First, get the Nomad and then get other motorcycles for fun.

Ditto... keep the meanie for weekend fun.
Get the Nad for the road trip or the commute.

I'd look for a 2005 Nad (1600 engine). I had a 2000 Nad 1500 and the power was pathetic until I added Thunder air box, etc. But then it was just adequate. With the 06 Nad, I got more stock hp/torque, then I added TFI and 9" K&N on right side-- this sucker hauls (not in the league of big bore, but plenty of "juice"). The downside is fuel mileage is 3-5mpg less than 1500. But what a ride! You can always add "bling" later.
