Im proud of my POS en500!
|
This is an informational thread for owners of 1990-1996 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (en500) owners. This mainly pertains to those of us who are looking for a FULL exhaust system for our bikes in the years of 90-91, but may be knowledgeable to the later models.
I have been trying to find a full exhaust system for my 90 vulcan 500, and all I had been able to find was a setup for 92-96 vulcan 500s. This exhaust system is made by Jardine. Jardine's website claims that it is only compatible for 92-96 models. Well I was pretty damn sure that there is nothing different between the 90 and the 92 models except for maybe the paint scheme. So I called Jardine, and they verified that the website is WRONG, and the full exhaust system is actually compatible with the 1990-1996 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (en500) motorcycles. I just wanted everybody with these particular models to know this, as we all know our 500's could use a little more "balls". Another project I am working on, is converting the drive belt, to drive chain using Ninja 500 (ex500) parts. So far it looks to be compatible with the right parts. The reason for this is to re-gear the bike for highway use. I live in California, and if you aren't doing 80 on the freeway, you WILL get runover. They are regearing the newer Vulcan 500's (ltd) because they already have a chain drive, so all that is needed is to change a sprocket, but for those of us who have belt drives we will need to change both sprockts, and the rear sprocket mount from what I have researched. Has anybody tryed this yet? Anyways, here is a link to the exhaust system that will work for the 90-96 Vulcan 500's: Dennis Kirk: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...301&mmyId=7592 Jardine: http://jardine.rideshop.com/catalog/...ducts_id= 704 I hope this is helpful! Matt

Hi everyone!
I just bought a 1990 Vulcan 500 with 31,000 miles on it. It looks great, sounds great and seems to have been well maintained. My only other bike is a 2006 Qlink Legacy (fully automatic, shaft driven, 250cc), so I have no experience with maintaining or working on the Kawasakis. However, I'm not the kind of gal who lets the shop take care of everything for her - I want to learn how to keep this bike running in top condition myself. Advice, recommendations, tips - it's all appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
