You know, I thought the same about the green..until I saw one. We ran into a guy in Montana with the sweetest green Mean Streak, the color was beautiful.

+1. I didn't think much of it until I saw a used one at the dealer two weeks ago with several mods on it. Very distinct looking bike!

the meanie has hydrolic lifters for the valves, never need to do valves timing. also one of the best breaks in all cruisers, uo side down forks for more sporty performance, this bike can be lean down much more then many other cruisers

I just bought an '03 with 5100 miles, exhaust, intake, FI module, shield, factory shop manual, and a couple of other things for just over 5,000. If you shop around and are not in a hurry, you can definitely find something that will fit your budget.

my meanie has the 1500 engine, which most of the cats on this forum call the "fast engine", which basically refers to the torque. i agree with the statement above, where it was said that your dad's bike stock would be no match for the meanie, but in its current condition, a stock meanie would fall behind. most people get a bike and immediately start customizing it. i'd reccommend getting a used bike if you are going to mod it anyway, and save a few K $ in the process, which you can then dump back into modding your own ride. you can easily surpass daddy with a set of pipes, air kit and PCIII. spring for an aftermarket seat too. the stock meanie seats are a pain in the @$$. literally. the warrior has that big nasty fancy exhaust, but if you change it, the warrior has lost its most recognizable characteristic, and it's such a big and bulky pipe too.

remember that the first thing you spend money on is the depreciation, and just riding a new bike off the lot is a huge loss to you. let somebody else eat that and start modding a tried-and-true bike.
plus, if you get one of the older models, maybe you can find a color scheme more interesting than red and flat black.
