I guess my question would be....
Why did you opt for the LT version and not the standard 900? I'm one for doing things the way that I like. The LT version is what, 1200 more than the classic? I'm not sure I like the windshield that much and I'm not really into the saddlebags that are on the LT (my opinion of course). I bought the classic because I'd like to put on saddlebags that I like (kinda like Saddlemen's stuff and river road). Like I said, I don't really like the looks of a shield. For me, I couldn't justify spending 1200 more on the extras that come with the LT version. So, why did ya buy the LT? Lucky...

Had there been an LT version of the 1600 (other than the Nomad) I would have seriously considered it (and removed the shield).
For the 900, the LT is available in two different 2-tone paint jobs that mimic the 1600 Classic. That is a $200 option on the 1600, so that makes the difference of the 900's hardware now worth $1000 instead of $1200. Shield and hardware is typically about $200 or so. $200 for the backrest. Are the bags worth $600? No, but considering what Kawi gets for F&S accessories, it's actually in the ballpark, as the backrest and shield would be more than $400. Kawi gets $1000 each for replacement Nomad hard bags.

I don't know why (can't figure it out) but the LT has a TWO year warranty. I believe the Classic is one year.
I would buy saddlebags and a windshield and a sissy bar regardless. My other choices were the C50T and the 1100 Silverado. I didn't seriously consider any other bikes. At the time, I believed that my wife would ride with me, and she has made a couple of trips on back (150-250 miles roundtrip each), but she doesn't plan on any thing longer. I guess that I could have bought a Classic, but that is just hindsight. |

And it has a two warranty versus a one year warranty. I had bought a warranty extension for my last bike and it was HIGH, so when I saw that the LT had all the basics already on it, and the warranty........
And I wondered why get a one tone when the two tone looks better, and why pay $1500-2000 for accessories and warranty when they are already included. If I wanted different w/s or bigger bags or a Corbin seat, and a different color scheme, then why not get a used one, repaint, put on accessories as I wanted. But then you have to redo suspension, and the tires, and the wheelbase, to get as neat of a bike. This way it's all there, and I ride from day one versus waiting for bits and pieces (of course you have to have lowers with the windshield, and you really need the Strebel horn, and brighter headlight bulb and taillight bulb......) And (most important to long term relationship) She Who Must Be Obeyed gets real antsy everytime some new part arrives. "You're spending more on that?" "I need to go order from QVC!" And you know if SWMBO ain't happy then nobody's happy! Bill in WTx

i actually wanted the blue classic with the lt accesories (as a hardcore colts fan:p ) i did get the blue/silver LT though because i did not want to wait a year or two for the accessories to be released. plus u get an extra year warranty. being a new machine this is important. i got an extra two years (4 total) for $300. MSRP + TTL $10,033.00. not a bad deal.

Being the first bike in 15+ yrs, it was great to have the full package in one, without having to spend a bunch of $$ and time to outfit the bike. Also wanted to be able to ride with the Mrs. immediately and not wait on the sissy bar, etc. Sat on the bike, it was a great fit, and I figured I could change out accessories later as I get back into riding. Another key factor is the wife LOVED it just as it was - no brainer if she likes it, get it before she changes her mind - the details will work themselves out.
Only thing I wish it had (Cost me big $$ - in my opinion!) is passenger boards which I ordered with my bike over a month ago and are still on back order! thinking of going Kury instead... That's why I bought the LT.

Its a perfect sized cruiser for me. 5'8" 150lbs. I would have put a shield and bags on anyways. I wanted the sissy bar for my daughter, 9 who rides a lot with me. That is soooo cool! For the most part the bike was everything I was looking for in a cruiser and the price was right. With the extra 4 year warrenty out the door with my 98 600 shadow trade in 7500 bucks. Probably coulda got it for less, but I was happy so I bought it.

The other way around, I opted for the classic cause I didnt like the windshield, 2 tone, or the saddle bags or studded seats and sissy bar. Just not my style. When it's time for a shield I want a National Cycle Switchblade quick release. Around $200. Cobra sissy bar - around $200. So the classic was more of what was for me. Plus I just love that deep blue metallic. Yum-yum!
