Default Considering Selling 900LT

Although this is a tough call I am considering selling my 2006 900LT. The primary reason is that I am being transferred overseas (U.K.). for almost a year beginning in November 06. The company is not going to pay to move the bike with me. I added a dual tour corbin seat, engine guards, and kuryaken grips to it this year. I paid $8K for the bike and between the seat and the crash bars another $900. This is my first bike and I have about 2,500 miles on it. In your opinions what is the best way to sell a used bike? Internet, forums like this etc? How do I determine a fair price?

When I get back I will get another bike and to be honest I am considering a Nomad. I really like the 900LT but would like a little more power for the highway as well as the hard bags. I'll be saving my pennies while on assignment.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Buzzman, based on your pic, you are a big dude like myself (6'2, 270) and my 06' 900 LT has plenty of power for me, but if my wife rides we exceed the manuel's 397 lb. limit a little ( ok a lot, can not lie so help me or my name is not William Jefferson Clinton). I was just on Beartooth's Kawasaki website wondering if I should/need to get the Vulcan2K LT, but I got what I could afford Aug. 15 and if I get good service out of the 900LT will help my decision in the next 2 years. Good Luck in your future!

I search craig's list often for possible bikes for the wife, free listing, thousnads of people looking, most in your area so local sale possibilities go way up. There is also Cycle Trader, but man....that mag is filled with what feels like thousands of bikes and after a few pages, they all look the same to me....
Don't be a stranger to the forum even while you are cagin' it over in the UK!

Have you considered storing it while you are gone. Might be better than taking a loss, and you'll have it waiting or ready for trade when you get back.

What part of the UK are you going to? My sister lives in England, right next to the Welsh border.

If the bike is paid off I would just store at a friends house or storage unit until you get back. If it's not then I could see trying to sell it and get out from under the payment. Have you even looked into shipping it over to england and what the cost is? It might not be that bad! You know you would have alot of great conversations about your bike over there???

Yes a bike overseas, in some of thos small towns, skinny winding roads. A bike just may be the answer to seeing some of the country while being there.

Fantastic rides, pics and stories to tell for the rest of your life. It just MAY be WELL worth the money you pay to send it over there on your own nickel.

Then when you get back you can sell it as a multinational bike, been to 19 countries in one year. Stories included...

I'll be working in a small town called Lichfield. It's about 100 miles north of London. The bike is financed and I could avoid the payments if I sold it. I'll give it some more thought over the weekend. I would not mind having the bike in the U.K. since I do have a GPS for it (need the UK maps to load) tooling around the country would be nice. I'm sure the weather would be wet most almost every day.
