LED Tail Light for VN800A

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2001 Vulcan 800 from a kid who put a bunch of aftermarket stuff on the bike. He put on one of these skull lamp tail light assemblies on, which has only one bulb vrs. the two that I believe the bike had originally. I don't like how this thing throws mostly white light, rather than red.

I'd like to do a straight swap for a red-LED assembly with a Signal Dynamics Back-Off XP module for good measure. Problem is, I don't have the original assembly that came with the bike so I need something that is an all-in-one bolt in solution. I like these dual-unit ones from J&P, but I'm not sure how bright they would be.

Anyone have a suggestion on brand/manufacturer? I'd like to keep the price on the lower end of things... not looking to spend more than about $75.

Give me about a week & I'll tell you how bright those LED's are... that is the exact taillight I had my builder put on my 800A Chopper which (fingers-crossed) will be picked up in PA this weekend & ridden back down into the hills of W.Va.

Hey wvKawBoy, you have anything to report on those LEDs?

You will be glad you installed the LED license frame, both looks(over plain tag)and visibility safety(more than baseball-size taillight) wise. Best 30 bucks I could spend for both those reasons.
Mine was made by BIG BIKE PARTS Inc. 2300 Pioneer Ave. Rice Lake, WI. 54868. I almost bought one similiar for $125.00 Signal Dynamics has till I saw the one I got. Plus mine is lighted all the way around without spaces. Friend that did mine had to solder a little.

Hey Skybolt,
Post above was if you want to put a LED license frame on. I wanted to do what you are talking about to my 06' 900 but a part supplier told me nothing was listed for a 900.

Sorry so late, I missed this post. Yep, I really like the LED taillight. It is definately smaller than the stock light as you can see in my pics of the KAWAZY PROJECT, but they are very bright & definately add a custom touch to my bike.
