I'm sitting on pins and needles to see the one I ordered. (and don't worry Chuck, i'm not rushing you....I know you're trying to stay afloat down there in the PNW)...and besides, the bike is parked for the winter (boo-hoo)
But it's gonna look so cool when I get it.

Just like pat said we just move the ticks closer to the left and it then reads more correct. Really it's a simple fix. We can leave it stock or give you the adjusted speedo face. Lets say your speedo is off by 5 mph. We adjust for 3 or 4 just to be safe. Make sense. But we only do that for folks asking that be done on the 900's and 1600 more later to come..

Can you make one for the Los Angeles Angels?? I don't see it on your web site! So if you can play with the speedo numbers, I'll assume that since my speedo is exactly 10% fast the number could be redone that way? IE: old face 44 indicated you could have 40 actually there and 88 indicated you could have 80 at that spot. The same for all numbers? I could see that possible by using a mock up but I'm not sure if that would be a little difficult for you guys or something that your manufacturing process could easily do?

thanks for your time

The who?
Glad I didn't have one made up for Edison Field or the Arrowhead Pond.
To me, it'll always be the "Big-A" and the "Anaheim Drive-In" (okay, so the drive in was actually on the other side of the river....)
The team will always be the California Angels.

The speedo face looks GREAT!!

I noticed that there are both miles/kilometres on this face dial.
The kilometre scale on this face dial is off.

Did you know that you multiply your miles by 1.6 to get kilometres per hour.

Just my observation.

it's nice to know you can make the dials with different graphics... but i'm no graphics artist, and really i don't know if anyone could make something designed to fit in there without obstructing some stuff.. can you guys offer alternative graphics or custom designs?

i do find it interesting, also, that you offer the 'corrected' speedo readings only on the MPH scale... i notice on your website the km/h scale listed beneath has not been altered at all...

also, for our kanuckistani and euro friends, do you make available a custom km/h-only face?

I'm having one done right now, in KM/H.

I love these they look so cool. Two questions though. I have a 2007 model and I think my speedo may be more accurate than the 06 model can you get them unchanged as the ticks go? Also can you get any style or just the ones that they show for your model bike? I like the customizing option maybe I'll get my name on one then everyone knows it's my bike LOL

If you look we left the KM/H alone and only moved the MPH to make the difference of being off by 5 mph. Make sense. So yes your right and wrong.

For the record... mph and km/h are inherently connected, as the measure the same thing... distance over time.

5 mph =~ 8 km/h

If it's off 5 mph, it's off 8 km/h as well.

I was wondering why it was off by a consistent amount.
The issue is the way the correction was done... you took the 140 off and moved the rest of the scale up by 5mph, which is what the customer asked for, but that will result in the speedo being accurate at 55-65mph, but it will now read slow below 50 and still read fast above 50.
The speedo is off by a percentage, and it is only off by 5mph at one particular speed.

Adjusting the scale this way will result in an actual speed of 27 when the speedo indicates 25, 18 when actual speed is 15, 9 instead of 5, etc... and that's not a big deal and most likely won't cost a ticket (speeds between 27 and 55 are very close to what they should be), but once you move above 55, the original error is still there, and 105 indicated is still only 99... 115 is 108, 125 is 117, pegged is 126 instead of 135.

Close enough for 90% of us? Hell yes.

A more accurate way to do it is to adjust the spacing of the numbers and change the range, so, in the case of a 0-140 dial with the speedo being off by 10%, 140 becomes 126... make it 125, then evenly space 26 tic marks from 0-125 (including the tic at 0 in that count). Finally, eliminate the 15,25,35,45 etc... tic marks... maybe leave the 125 so the scale remains symmetric. That will result in a dial that corrects for a 10% error across the entire face.

I hear you guys but also keep in mind it's not an F-16 fighter jet were dealing with here that has to be perfect but a bike. If after we do what we do and it's only off by 2MPH isnt that really good enough? compared to being off by 5mph stock? I'm talking about the 900 now. We have made no adjustments to the 1600 models yet. We could sit here all day talking about how this can be done differently but over the years we found that just moving the ticks in the direction it needs to go to make that small correction is good enough to be pretty close. Now take the Vstar 650 you can leave the stock tick right were they are and make the adjustment via the speedo needle placement when putting it back on. You can not do that on electronic speedos unfortanatly.

I want my speedo to be accurate, what ever the speed.

If your going to change the calibration of the numbers, then it should be done correctly.

I for one do not want the numbers there just for looks.
