If your going to change the calibration of the numbers, then it should be done correctly.

I for one do not want the numbers there just for looks.
I agree that I want my speedo accurate too. That is why he made some adjustmets for us. I know its not perfect, but the only way to get them accurate is to buy an electronic speedo healer for about 100 bucks. But if he leaves the numbers the same as stock you're 5 miles or more off anyways....Not trying to be mean or anything so please don't take me wrong!! Just trying to be informative.

We have made no adjustments to the 1600 models yet. We could sit here all day talking about how this can be done differently but over the years we found that just moving the ticks in the direction it needs to go to make that small correction is good enough to be pretty close. Now take the Vstar 650 you can leave the stock tick right were they are and make the adjustment via the speedo needle placement when putting it back on. You can not do that on electronic speedos unfortanatly.
close enough is good enogh for me im still tryin to dfecide on my Beatle motiff yet but ill be ordering one here in a week or so!

in re: all the talk about 'speedo healers' and re-scaled speedo cards and all this...

i agree with whoever said you have to adjust the scale for the percentage difference NOT a MPH difference... it's not just as simple as moving the numbers around the same amount.

It's typical of ALL speedos to be off by a percentage- not a hard number. Whether they're electronic display, electronic pickup, or old gear-and-cable setups.

The "Speed Healer" thing changes the pulses to affect a percentage change.

Reading 7-10% fast is pretty normal, so think about this, using 10% as the example.

At 10 mph, the speedo reads 11 mph.
At 20 mph, the speedo reads 22 mph.
At 30 mph, the speedo reads 33 mph.
At 40 mph, the speedo reads 44 mph.
At 50 mph, the speedo reads 55 mph.
At 60 mph, the speedo reads 66 mph.
At 70 mph, the speedo reads 77 mph.
At 80 mph, the speedo reads 88 mph.
At 90 mph, the speedo reads 99 mph.
At 100 mph, the speedo reads 110 mph.

So, if you say the speedo is 5 mph off, that must mean you're saying that because it says 55 at 50 mph. So, if you adjust the scale to slide everything down 5 mph, then that means you'll read like so:

Adjusted scale shows 5 mph for 9 mph
Adjusted scale shows 15 mph for 21 mph
Adjusted scale shows 25 mph for 32 mph
Adjusted scale shows 35 mph for 43 mph
Adjusted scale shows 45 mph for 54 mph
Adjusted scale shows 55 mph for 65 mph

Or thereabout.

I fail to see where this is making things more accurate...

It is more accurate because it eliminates the error at 45-55, and halves it at 90-100.
Like Chuck and I said... it's close enough for 90% of us, even though it's not perfect. I just expanded on how it could be done to bring in better accuracy across the scale, though a tire change will screw that up anyways

I think you missed an interval in your "after" table... this is what I came up with.
Adjusted scale shows 5 mph for 9 mph
Adjusted scale shows 15 mph for 18 mph
Adjusted scale shows 25 mph for 27 mph
Adjusted scale shows 35 mph for 36 mph
Adjusted scale shows 45 mph for 45 mph
Adjusted scale shows 55 mph for 54 mph
Adjusted scale shows 65 mph for 63 mph
Adjusted scale shows 75 mph for 72 mph
Adjusted scale shows 85 mph for 81 mph

are we over thinking this? its a small problem-mines off 5 to 7 mph. if i get it closer than it is that kinda solves the problem for me.kinda like any improvement is great and after all , isnt this just a little cherry on the pie so to speak since the whole idea to begin with is the "custom graphics" on the face and not a fix so to speak??just my opinion.

Does that mean that you can kinda pay for it?
Okay, you buy a face plate sticker that is "Kinda" close. True, it's better than stock. However, how long would it take to make them accurate?
I mean they are going through all the time to set something up that is "Kinda" close, can't they set it up to be right on!!
The numbers for me are there for a reason, not just to look at.

You hit it on the head. We didnt do this to help fix speedo MPH readings to be corrected. We did this so folks could have a custom speedo face plate replacement period. If we can make some minor adjustmets and HELP make your speedo a little more accrute great! If not then you would still be stuck with just a boring stock gauge that is off by the same speed. Like someone said this MOD is for the 90% folks not the 10% folks. If you feel you really need to have a dead on speedo THIS MOD IS NOT FOR YOU! Just that simple folks!!! Go by a speed healer and let that be that.

I was thinking that instead of my speedometers 0-140 mph, it could be 0-130 and then team lopez could just add the 10-120 equally between those numbers. That way 65 would be straight up instead of 70 and all the numbers would be very close to perfect.

Is that possible?

HMm not sure we could do that but all I need to do is talk this over with my business partners and see. We may just keep them stock so there wont be any issues and do the special dial for the folks wanting that but that does require time and time is money so keep that in mind Ok See if you want it that way and nobody else does we try and stay away from that on the ticks part. If you read our FAQ it will explain why because we try to make something for the masses and it makes our lifes much easier. Make sense. Thanks!
