The OEM exhaust makes your bike sound like a Singer Sewing Machine and if a Mazda can go mmmm then a Vulcan can go WHOOPA WHOOPA VAROOM VAROOM
![]() As a side note that aftermarket exhaust will give your bike a major performance boost, mostly in midrange torque.

The first week i got the bike, i got push over 3 times by cars that did not see me and did not hear me
. Once on busy boulevard, once on highway, once in trafic. Now with my V&H Long Shots, if they do not see me they hear me and stay in their lane or look before changing lane.![]() |

I'll just answer your question though. There is nothing wrong with OEM pipes. If you like them, keep them. One advantage to them is you may get better gas mileage over aftermarket pipes. Other than that, it's looks and sound. Your call, your choice. Your Bike. The important thing is RIDE and have FUN and be SAFE. ![]()

better breathing, less restriction, thus more power. plus you get a cool sound.

Better breathing only if you install a free flowing air intake/filter and a computer to change the fuel injection mapping. In other words, more $$$. Now, is it worth it? It's up to you to decide. It gets expensive for only 10hp.
Better sound? Yes, but up to a certain point. I like it when it's lound but not too much. I wouldn't ride with strait pipes or debaffled mufflers. This quote commes from another discussion on this forum. While loud pipes owners can use them in a reasonable way, others don't. Quote:

The V&H Powershots snapped her head right around, and her car did that little nosedive from its brakes being slammed. I don't think a horn short of a semi's airhorn would have had the same effect.

I'm betting very few do an aftermarket exhaust primarily for a performance gain. Even back in the day when everyone was putting 4 into 1 headers on their KZ's, I think the sound and look was a big factor.
