Default Dumb question about power outlets

I've been trying to do some research on this. I can't get to my bike right now without a lot of trouble (I'd have to move three bikes around the garage), and I can't find anything in my service manual to answer my question. I'm hoping that someone can help me.

Does my 2002 1500 Classic FI have any factory-installed accessory connections? I read in another thread that some of the later-model Vulcans have them (two places mentioned were under the seat next to the battery and under the tank near the speedometer). I want to hook up a power outlet to my bike, not just for accessories but also to run a trickle charger, without having to hook it up directly to the battery. And I'd much rather tap into a factory-installed connection than have to run wiring from the battery itself.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gadget was able to tell me how much wattage my 1600 put out at 3000rpm. He can probably answer your question.

Hi Julie,

I used the extra connections inside my headlight to install a cigarette light on my handlebars. Have used my GPS on it and I have my radio module hard wired into the headlight too. So far no fuses blown, all works well. You might even be able to rig up a plug in for the battery tender thru the cigarette lighter recepticle.

Julie, as far as I know all the 1500 Classics have the connections under the seat, under the tank at the front, and in the headlight. I know my 05 has one under the seat on the left side next to the frame.

bluestringer is correct and if you remove the seat you'll see the one down in the wiring mess right next to the battery. If you don't have the stock air box you may be able to get to the one under the tank. The 1500 Classic has a very healthy electrical system and will run accessories galore.
