That forum has some ridiculkous password requirements and it's too much bother. I can't remember what mine was and it won't accept my usual. TOo many unnecessary forum passwords. Who'd want to be me on a forum anyway? No one pays any attention to me.

I have a 2003 Mean Streak 1500 with Cobra Speedster shorts, power commander and Thunder Tornado air intake. Does anyone have a custom map for this?? I have a map I downloaded at the Thunder site, but ever since the air intake install the bike starts harder now?? Like you have to give it some gas. Thanks guys!!...Mark kickstartmarksheart@yahoo.com http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/fugem

I'm trying to make sense of HP/Torque. I have a 99 1500 Classic (carbureted).
A Dynojet run showed 45HP a year ago. Then I added V&H pipes, new jets, K&N and modified the air intake. I think it runs faster. I can certainly pass more quickly. A new dyno run on a SuperFlow Windyne showed 46HP and 93.6 ft lbs of torque (which seems to be a little high). Our altitude is 5280 ft and the tech said we lose about 10%HP at this altitude. Also said that Dynojet reads about 10HP high. Is 46HP low for this altitude? Is 93.6 ft lbs of torque high? |

Sorry to be the newbie here, but I just purchased a 2005 1600 MS that happened to come with a Power Commander III USB. It did not include the USB cable so I have already ordered that. I went to the Dynojet/PC website and looked at the online documentation, but I'm not clear on how you determine if you have a good map. Do you actually have to take the bike to someone with a a Dyno 'test' setup so that they can stress the bike to get the charts?
Also, I'm looking for a map for the Cobra Speedster Shorts (exhaust pipes). Since I bought this from a dealer and not the previous owner, I have no idea what was done in way of fuel map changes. The bike seems to backfire quite a bit when I roll off of the throttle. |

When looking for a downloadable map, you want to match your configuration as closely as possible: Make, model, year, air kit and exhaust. Dynojet has two collections of downloadable maps: Ones that they made, and ones that users have uploaded.
Kingofwings also has a good collection of Vulcan maps, I think. Might give him a private message. Other than that, custom tuning your PCIII will give you the best return on performance, but costs. |

Thank you for your reply. I did speak to someone in Austin today who said he can tune the PCIII (he has the Dyno rig to test). He said it would probably take him the day to do it (for the Mean Streak) and it costs $275. He charges a reduced rate ($45 minimum + $75/hr., up to $275) to redo a fuel map, if I were to change something (eg. add a different airbox after the inital mapping). I think I will do that, eventually, but for now I am just looking for a map that matches my Cobra Speedster Shorts with stock air intake. I haven't found an exact map for that yet.

Easyrider, thanks, I think I will try the map for the slashdowns. I'm waiting for the replacement USB cable I ordered for the PC. Once I get it hooked up, I will at least know what map is on there now.

Hey Daxamundo, if you're still checking this thread there's not much point to Dyno tuning it until you get a less restrictive air intake on that bike. You've got to open up both ends (intake and exhaust) and then you can add more fuel. Just hate to see you waste your money. Good to see someone from Coupland on here. My brother lives in Georgetown and I come through Coupland on the way up there quite a bit. Even stop at the old dancehall every once in a while.

New to the forum. I was wondering about the thunder intake mod on the dual air intake. Did you have to put it on both sides? If not what did you do to get around this?

no one side is eliminated. You do need pipes as well as a fuel processor if you open up the intake though. I think on the 1600 you get around 80hp

Though I live only 1.6 miles from the Coupland Inn/Dancehall, I don't make it over there too often. Every once in a while I like to drop in for some good home-cooked food (including some blackberry cobbler).

No no daddyo. One side is eliminated. The other side is an open air cleaner. But you must have a fuel controller and aftermarket exhaust

If you spend the big bucks to get your bike Dynoed with a custom Map. Is is illegal to sell your custom maps? I was thinking about this to recover the costs of doing the Dyno. Likewise I would also be willing to pay for a Map of someone with the same configuration.
