Have A 07 900lt Kaw, 1800 Miles On It Now And So Far Have Had The Gas Line Blow Off, Severe Drive Belt Noises, Sounds Like I Have A Flat Tire Some Times. Back Fires When Strarting Engine When Hot, Back Brake Grinds When Applied. Vibrates After 60mph. . Thinking Of Dealing It For The New 1300 Yamaha In 08. Have Owned Lots Of Bikes But This One Is Annoying Me.

If you've owned that many bikes, then you ought to know that no bike is perfect and that there are fixes for just about everything.

I don't have any exp. with the dyna's on a 1500 all the 15's I have had were fuel injected. You can always open it up though!

The blue line is with the PCIII 003 map (roadhouse and hypercharger) after installing the BAK. This map was recommended by DynoJet as a starting point until I could get the custom map developed.
The red line is with custom map. End Result (Attached): Max Torque: 89.5 Max HP: 67.5 Nice fairly-smooth curves. |

I see that you just did the custom map today. Would you mind coming back and posting what your avg mpg is after a few tanks? I plan on doing the caddmann mod instead of the BAK. Which BAK did you use?
TIA -Josh

Josh,
I used the BA-2070-06 (Comet). If you look in my profile you should be able to make out what it looks like. If not, I'll post some pics of the left and right side. The caddman mod is pretty cool. I think both the BAK or the caddman mod will supply more air than the 1600 could ever need (IMO). For me, I just really like the look of the BAK. I know some folk want the symmetry (something on the L and R sides of the bike), but I really like mine open. Also cutting out the crossover is a "no going back" kind of move. Later, Al |

I had my bike dyno-tuned last week. I don't have the results scanned in, but here they are:
Quote:
I know my numbers aren't all that impressive compared to some, but I had the guy "split the difference" between mileage and performance (he can apparently calibrate for max mileage or max performance ...I think it has to do with that air/fuel ratio). The dyno tuning center I went to was coincidentally 163 miles away, so I can say that I got 27mpg on the tank going there and 37mpg on the tank coming back. I'm not getting any 'neck-jerking' power difference, didn't want to and wasn't expecting to. The real difference, for me, is in torque. It feels like I'm sitting on top of a Mack truck now. More than anything else, though, the whole acceleration range has been smoothed out ...I really can't describe it any better. That, and the increase in mileage, makes the whole thing well worth the money spent. Word of advice/caution: I would not use any of the Thunder Mfg PCIII maps on a long-term basis. I had my concerns before, but the dyno proved that those maps are dumping gas by the bucket load in the lower rpm ranges. On more than one occasion, the guy who dyno'd my bike mentioned this ...places where the map was calling for high 20s/low 30s increases in fuel when the dyno showed only single digit increases needed. Really, the best process is to use the "completely stock' map for your bike and get it custom tuned. Using one of the Thunder maps long-term can be harmful to your engine, imho.

Anyone know of a reputable and proficient Dyno shop anywhere in NW Oregon (within 50 miles of Portland)?
After my pipes and PC III USB mods, I've really lost the low end and my mileage has suffered a bit. The bike ('06 Meanstreak) really pulls my arms off in the higher RPMs but has lost a noticeable amount of torque. |

I was hoping to find someone on the Forum that has had some dyno work done in or around Portland, Oregon, and could vouch for the quality of a particular shop. |
