Here we go! Good fun! I'll take 14.0 @ 92. ET is very dependent on how well you get the bike to launch. Trap speed is a pretty good indication of horsepower even on runs with a "lousy" launch provided you stay on it and make good shifts. Results will be interesting. When you get the time slips the BS stops.

I think 13-14 seconds is realistic. I did some more looking at some timeslips from other runs, and it should fall in that range.
Tom E... I don't think we've seen any BS so far, kind of nice really. I am just excited to try running a 1/4 mile on a track, and pleased with the gains I've seen from intake/exhaust mods. Anyway, I'll do my best to be below 14... even 13.9 would be betther than 14!

Didn't mean to infer there was. Just an old expression. Sorry I'm not close enough to go too.
For reference, my "bolt ons" 1500 MS (pipes, intake, PCIII) went 13.0 @ 100 mph. Last edited by Tom_E : 07-08-2008 at 08:01 PM. |

I bought a 2004 Ninja500 with a Muzzy and Dynojet....I know it was to rejet to carbs but how does the dyno effect the performance compared to stock? It runs fine...just curious.
Thanks

Same here my friend.
I will post my ET as soon as I get to run. Hoping for end of the month. In the mean time can I get in on the pool action... I'll take 13.4 at 97 mph (I can dream

The dyno would have been used to set up the carb jetting to compensate for the pipe change. Rejetting a carb is a similar exercise to mapping a FI bike with a powercommander or other fuel controller. The Carb has several jets, that blow fuel into the stream of intake air... pilot, needle (or slide) jets, and the main jet. They work in sequence from idle to full throttle. The Dyno tuner will try different jet sizes/needle settings to get an ideal A/F ratio and max power. The dyno is the tool he uses to try each setting and compare the results. If it runs fine... he probably did a good job

Here are the before and after dyno runs. The "after" run still needs some tweaking, we were pressed for time, the engine was running hot, and our torque numbers were getting worse with the heat. Enough excuses, dyno runs attached:
Before (Forcewinder Intake, PCIII, and Muzzy Megaphone Exhaust): ![]() After (Muzzy Big Bore Kit, Thunder Cams, Thunder Ported Intake, Heads ported by me, still some tuning left to do): ![]()

How loud are your Roadhouse 2in1 pipes? I have heard them on YOUTUBE and they sound awesome (but then these videos can be deceiving) and I know they give the best performance increase...I'm looking for pipes that are more than stock but not so loud they rattle my teeth at 80 or wake the neighborhood.. Cobras, Hines, etc are just to loud.. |

Hi Biker Dad,
Yeah, they sound awsome, and they are certianly louder than stock, but they have this awsome characteristic of being fairly tame on idle or steady throttle position, but they have an excellent crack to them when you get on the throttle. I think it is almost a perfect compromise. Also, they offer three baffles, quiet, standard, and performance. They swear that these do not alter performance, only volume. I have the standard, and one of my neighbours asked why my new pipes were so quite while is was idling in my drive. I blipped the throttle, and his eye went wide. I think he's going to get a set too Good luck and tell Dusty at roadhouse that Chris in Canada sent you! Cheers

I updated the Calculator I posted above, ^^. I think it is a bit easier to use now.

i have a vn900 2007 classic, i am seeking the right setting to the cobra unit to get ride of the open throttle bog down on it. here is the set up i have currently
cobra dragster pipes thunder tornado air kit cobra FI200R direct plug in settings now 5-3-1 i had this unit set to 8-8-3 and still had open throttle issues on any settings i used. how lean do these bikes run or are they semi rich? My stock AFK worked great at stock settings on the cobra, never had a bog issue on the bike with the pipes or unit. I know it has to do with too much air coming in and i need to adjust this some how with out using resistors or removing the tps to do this. any help would be great |

Almost all of the Dynos showing AF on the 900 do not show lean conditions. Most actually show a slight richness. You can get a bog down by dumping in too much fuel also. I'd say you are with an 8 and probably with a 5.
I think Alf has your setup. |

^^ No, not quite but...
"My mods Cobra speedster longs, Thunder teardrop air kit and Cobra fi2000r. Air/Fuel was slightly rich till 3500 RPM then bang on all the way to the rev limiter. It was not out enough to worry about tweaking the fi2000r settings. Oh forgot my local dealer was giving out $25,00 off coupons in the end the dyno cost me a whopping $35.00." |
