When I was a road cyclist, I joined some clubs and on certain days during the week (e.g. every Sunday) you could join a group that suited your ability and go for a ride. You would at some point meet somewhere with the other members of the club of other levels of ability and have a meal. Then you'd ride back to the starting point. The club would also sponsor rides around the state where the members would volunteer to set up and provide support for people who would pay to do the ride. There were also other functions. In short, it was a great way to learn about places to ride in the valley, meet people, and just be involved in the sport.
Are there groups like this for motorcyclists? And if so, how does a newbie like myself contact and join up? |

A good start would be the AZ Bike Week event coming up. Check out http://www.azbikeweek.com/ for more info. Also I know a local dealer that sponsors a group called "ROK" (Riders of Kawasaki) in the Phoenix area. You can find a link thru http://kawasakisuperstore.net/

There is a VROC ride in Tucson at the end of the month, not sure how many people will be there but in past years the bike week ride here was pretty popular. They are riding Fri, Sat, and Sun.
