delvac 15-40 here, seems to shift smoother than it did with the GTX 10-40.

Default Mobil1 0-40

Mobil 1 0-40 Thumbs. I'm not an expert on oils but this is what I have been using. After all the experts weighed in I am going to start using Mobil 1 MX4T, which is recommended by Mobil 1 for Motorcycle engines who's manufacturer recommends 10w-40w.

Stock length in Mobil-1 is M1-108.
Longer filter (1600, or 1500, Nomad or Meanie with the Goat's belly removed) M1-110

What bike do you have?

Would help if you'd put a little more info in your profile or your signature line.

I buy Valvoline 10-40 moto oil from Advance Auto. My last oil filter was Mobil M1 108 (I think)....I recently purchased FRAM moto oil filters that will go in next week when I do my oil change.

Apparently, this oil filter is a new product made for motorcycles and is listed for the Kawasaki 900. Fram model # PH6017A.

Ya, and supposedly they don't have cardboard end caps anymore either.

Someone opened one up a few months ago and they're still cardboard, and still only 50%-75% of the media area of other filters.

If it was more than $2, you paid too much.

And it isn't "new".... it's listed on Gadget's page in the link above... and that page has not been changed in over 2 years.

Here's more... including a cutaway of the PH6018
Motorcycle Oil Filter Comparison

That is depressing...Fram 6018 got an 'F' for 'media'. The price I paid was a little over $6.00 bucks. I've been using FRAM filters on all of my vehicles for years.

Perhaps I will go ahead and use FRAM PH6017A this week and see what happens. (knock on wood)

Thanks for the link.

It'll work, but I wouldn't buy another one.

Perhaps by "new" it means that the parts catalog was finally updated for the VN900

Just a mention on the super-tech oil from wal-mart. I have an older car (18 yrs.) and change the oil and filter on the 12th of each month and used super-tech for a couple of months, to try it out. Man talk about viscosity breakdown!! It literally was as thick as water at oil change!! I stuck with quaker state, it still resembled oil when emptied.
