Went on an expedition this weekend - San Diego to Phoenix and back.
Bike ran perfect the whole trip without a single problem - 75 to 80 purrs all day and all night. Gas miles worked out to 44 + and likely would have been better except I was trying to keep up with all the Harley's that passed me. I now know what it'll take to get this bike to fit me: Risers for the pain between my shoulder blades, a windscreen adjustment for the ringing in my ears and pain in my neck, and a new seat for the pain in my arse. I fixed the first two, now I need a new seat. There just is no getting comfortable no matter how you sit on that stock seat. I think it's made to look nice, not ride nice - no anatomical design. The longer I rode, the easier it got but it was a challenge to be certain. The floorboards are nice but on a long ride you need to move your legs around to stay comfortable so I'm thinking highway pegs may be in order. I'm wondering how's the combination of a Mustang seat and highway pegs for comfort? Does anyone have any comments with references to anatomical studies for the ideal riding position - info that'll help me in making future purchases? |

the stock seat felt better the longer your rode? no, thats cause the blood stopped flowing and you were going numb. lol
yeah, highway pegs will help, anything you can do to move around will help out that dead feel in your legs I love my mustang on my 1500, love it. made the bike way better and roadworthy, after a 700 mile day 2 years ago, it wasn't my butt that hurt

I went to a proctoligist for butt pain a few moths ago.
He asked if I still had my OEM seat on my 900LT. I replied yes. He said I am writing you a script for a Corbin saddle. I filled the script and I am happy to report no more butt pain.

I just love my 900. Sure, it isn't anywhere near as powerful as the V2K, but it isn't a dog either! It handles well, gets great mileage and has been totally reliable (never having any of the throttle issues some report). The only down side to them (as mentioned) is that seat ... might as well sit on a concrete block and bounce down the Hwy.
The Crashbars and riding pegs will make the ride even more fun (as Spok indicates). We have the Cobra bars on ours and Kury pegs (wings) they are great!

Yes...like they said above.
I can vouch for the Mustang Seat, Highway bar/pegs, and risers. Last weekend...went on a trip from South Texas (Corpus Christi) to West Texas...Down to Presido...Back up thru the Big Bend...and back thru Del Rio to get back Home. We did this in 2 1/2 days. All in all we clocked up almost 1,400 miles. It was great...Beautiful weather....Sunny and warm(except at nite). Looked like a raccoon on my face from my sunglasses (white around the eyes) Anyway...the mustang seat was the best. Have been much , much shorter distances on the stock seat. Wish they wound just put these seats on the bikes in the first place.

You saw how I have mine set fairly low, yet they still allow me to stretch my 36" inseamed legs out. The nice thing about that position is I can slide my feet back and hang off of the rear of the boards (don't do that often), centered, slide them forward with my toes under the controls... then I can rotate my feet and rest my toes on the pegs with my heels on the floorboards, or simply plant my arch on the pegs. I noticed no real comfort difference in my legs between the stock and Mustang seats... just the butt and lower back.
