I can feel the shade when riding through it on a hot day and smell a lumber yard before I ever see it. You don't get that in a car.

Me, the bike, and the road. It's both freedom and empowerment. Complex machinery for the purpose of simple pleasures. Instant adrenaline just grab and twist. Grin invoking, calm inducing two wheeled therapy.

And I also think it makes you a member sort of an elite type club. When your out on the bike or have it parked somewheres drinking coffee or anything, people come up to you and say "nice machine or nice bike". I get that all the time when I'm out on the Silver Ghost (my 900). Its like some people look up to you and it gives your self esteem a boost.
And after a pain in the @$$ day at work or what have you and you just got to get away for a bit, it helps the mind and the soul.
Theres an incredible feeling when I'm out with some of my rc aircraft just boring holes thru the sky, its really awesome! Being out on the bike is the same thing. Puts you in another world so to speak.
A buddy of mine who drives a Road King Custom says, "its an absolute sickness" the more you ride, the more you wanna ride even more! And I believe it!!!

Lucky...

I catch a lot of crap from the HD crowd in the office.

For me, when I bought my Vulcan, I got a bike that looks twice as good as their HD, runs twice as good, and costs half as much.

Love riding with my wife and friends,..checking out new roads, and new restaurants. Also enjoy the freedom,..wind and power at the wrist. Not about speed and power,..so much right now for me,..it's about coolness,..until the Nomad comes out with a 2000 model. Perhaps then I'll consider trading up.

kyclassic,

So, you don't have a Vulcan anymore... but felt the need to come into this thread and be a jerk. Speaks volumes about you.

Congrats... you're the first person in my ignore list on this forum.

I have had other bikes, most recently a Nighthawk CB650 older vintage. Now that I ride a 2002 Kaw. Vulcan Nomad 1500 FI, I am free to go and experience places I have not been able to venture with my smaller bike.

Spring is not coming fast enough and my battery tender is keeping the power within to head onto the open highway soon. The sound of the Vance and Hinds is getting me excited.

Ride on..keep the black on the road and the color toward the sky)
