It means to me that I get to enjoy the open road and have no worries for half the cost of "Harley Riders".

I'm with you, Airski. I just enjoy the ride.

As far as HD goes, there's a certain nostalgic value to it. It's like the ford Mustang. Even though your European or Japanese sports cars will run circles around it, they still don't have that "it" factor of a classic 'stang. Yes, The HD quality has always been suspect, but it really has gone up in recent years, but that's not the point here.

The point is much like the dog in the car window - that the wind in your face feels the same when you're on a Kaw, HD, Indian, Ducati, whatever.

I'm sorry KY but if they gave me a sportster under the condition I had to ride it and give up my Nomad, they could keep it.

Wha does riding my Vulcan mean?

1. I need to get off my lazy butt and fix my barhopper.
2. All the gas stations know me by my first name.
3. Something (as usual) needs fixed (again), soon.
4. My butt hurts.
5. My back hurts.
6. My fingers are numb.

And no, I'm NOT bagging on my bike.

1. I need to ride it while I fix what I've worn out on the 800.
2. You can have power, or mileage. I choose power.
3. I can't keep brakes or cables on the thing, I ride it, a lot.
4. I wore out another seat.
5. I wore out another seat and the shock needs to be replaced.
6. I wore out another seat and now the ergonomics are off.

I think I ride too much...

Boo F'n hoo!!! I can't be the only one around here that gets tired of the Harley bashing. If you can't take it, then stop dishing it out.

ooh , i enjoy a lively debate on Kawi vs HD . only i have never gone over to a HD forum & bashed HD or the virtues of owning a Vulcan on a HD site . this is a Kawi site & the Vulcan is king here ..

In a head to head, roll on race, the ZX-14 is probably king...

My Vulcan means I can ride without the discomfort that my old bike left me with after back surgery. If you were to ask my wife, she would say it means that I get home from work sooner to rescue her from the kids.

Well I was about seven years old when I first started to ride. Sometimes it takes me back to being that child again, that first time of total freedom. Just going anywhere I pointed that little dirt bike to go. Now at my age of 38 I still get that feeling, the air in my face, the sound of the pipes and just knowing I'm driving something that I took from bone stock to now much more customized. It begins to be a part of you, hell I even have a name for mine. She's there when I need her, she won't cheat on me or ever lie and she puts a smile on my face everytime!!! I love my Meanie!! http://meanstreak.freeservers.com/

"Grin invoking, calm inducing two wheeled therapy."

Well said. I see that Scruffy and I think alot alike. While my 800 isn't the biggest kid on the block, I'm still pretty darn sure that she's carried me more miles than most of them put together. It truly is not about WHAT you ride, it's what you get WHEN you ride that counts for me. (21,000 miles in two years and counting...)

My Vulcans provide me with the best cruiser experiences I've had, so far...

The 900 is a willing performer that looks and sounds great. Personalizing it has been fun and rewarding It gets at least 50% of my ride time, and is a great short-haul bike. I would not hesitate to take it anywhere, though. It is big fun for not much coin

My V2K is the prescription for keeping that grin going all day

There is no other cruiser that will do it for me. The big pull, great tires and brakes, all in a sane chassis. No tank slappers here. No parts falling off here. No overheating or self-destruction here.

The 2000 always impresses me, each time I climb aboard The power and big presence on the road gives a confident feeling, that makes you want to let her run!
