I'm not much into the vest/slogan thing. My youth was spent ripping around on MX bikes and then I progressed to sport bikes. Now I just basically ride for the emotional release and to feel the wind in my face. Yeah, bugs sometimes hurt but it's worth it ....

Good articles!!!

Years ago when my buddy and I rode from Alabama to Pennsylvania I was wearing a sweater that looked and smelled like a nasty bug grill so wound up throwing it in the garbage can once we got there. We did have helmets with bubble shileds on so that helped but even through the sweater it hurt like hell when those big bugs hit at 70 mph with no shield.

To me riding a Vulcan is the way for me to channel anger, frustration and other things that bothers me through life........that I might have taken out on someone that didn't deserve getting ripped a new one every so often.

Well, besides the obvious feeling of freedom

Riding in general is new(ish) to me. I have only owned my Vulcan for 8 months now, and just recenlty have I gotten past the "holy crap I'm riding a motorcycle... what am I? Nuts?" phase I went through. Now I can actually sit back and enjoy it. I feel so much more itimate with my surroundings... I feel like I am more of a part of the road, more of a part of the travel. I don't feel as dissconnected as when I drive my car. Nothing can make the stress of a hard work day for me go away than leaning into a sharp turn and accelerating through it. I think that's my favorite part about riding.

As for Vulcan specific... the older I get the lazier I get. I don't want to do a lot of maintenance on a bike... I love the fact that my 1600 has alloy rims, FI, Water Cooled and shaft drive... Less time messing with stuff, more time riding.

My wife has told me that she wants me to get a Harley because "they look cool" and there is a certain sitgma about them (forgive her, she doesn't understand... took me a while to learn!). And I have to say that I looked and test drove a couple... but I just liked my Vulcan better.

On a cycle the frame is gone. You're completely in contact with it all.

The feeling of freedom when I ride is the best part of it, as far as the Vulcan goes, it would be the reliability of knowing you are on a worry free machine.

the inexprienced rider or non riding public are more likely to only know of Harley's , real motorcyclist's tend to buy real cruisers "Vulcan's" .
p.s. yes , we must forgive those that dont know better ..

Perfect.

I just like riding a motorcycle. My first one was a Suzuki and this one is a Vulcan with a Suzuki badge. I don't ride for the brand.
