I know this is from a convesation in an old thread, but we're finishing up the rear pulley design (the aesthetic part of the design) for the VN900 and am looking for a little feedback. We have been using the OEM look, as most everyone who emailed us said they wanted it to look the same as the original.
You can see the raw version (un-hardened, unfinished) at: http://www.scootworks.com/swcart/sho...00pulley/1.jpg http://www.scootworks.com/swcart/sho...00pulley/2.jpg This is a -4 tooth overdrive version that retains the OEM flange size, so it still fills the area where the original fits, and doesn't leave a gap around the belt drive cover. From other online feedback, it seems that some want a different look as well, and probably want it in chrome. I'd be interested in hearing the style or pattern you might like to see in the pulley. You can also see the +2 tooth front overdrive pulley core at: http://www.scootworks.com/swcart/sho...00pulley/3.jpg http://www.scootworks.com/swcart/sho...00pulley/4.jpg Please email me direct at support@scootworks.com, as I find it difficult to get on the forums much this time of year (busy season and all...I'm working from home this Sunday morning). Thanks, Dave support@scootworks.com |

You know what if I could lower my 900s RPMs at 65 mph From 3500 (Thanks JW) to say 3000 I would be a happy camper. If the price to do this is not reasonable it is not the end of the world. You kind of get used to the RPM anyway and for some funny reason the gas mileage is still very good on the long haul...

Couldn't agree more.......you would probably sell more just for the look rather than the rpm reduction......we really need a chromed mag looking type rear sprocket...... Like this!!!! Last edited by MLC : 05-09-2007 at 01:08 PM. |

I would gladly pay the $180 if I knew that I could perform the work myself, or at least be assured that it wouldnt cost me an arm and a leg to hire it done. I also would be wanting some feedback on this site as to whether this actually works well. I am not an ace at gear ratios, but I wonder how that new sprocket affects the overall power of the bike in the lower gears. My guess is that you might have slower take-offs from a stand-still. I also wonder why the heck Kawasaki just didnt gear them better in the first place - which also makes me wonder if we should even be tampering with the gear ratio - maybe thats the best it can be with a 900cc bike. Another theory of mine is that maybe they want us all to buy bigger and more expensive bikes and so they are hesitant to apply a really good gear ratio to the 900.
Any thoughts? |
