Default Scootworks 900 pulley is ready

Got an email from scootworks today. The front pulley is ready. It is $180, plus $10.63 shipping. Don't know about performance numbers, effects, etc. It's not on the website yet, but it is ready. If anybody has any other info, feel free to chime in. Ride on!

WOW That is expensive! Guess I can say good bye to the days of the $20 Sprocket. I might fork out $180 for a chrome rear pulley but thats allot for a front sprocket.

With chains I have changed the rear sprocket with less teeth reducing top end RPM. How does it work on the front sproket? I forgot my high school phisics. heh

I don't know how it works. I just hope it drops rpm over 55-60. I want to hear my engine putt-putting at those speeds. I figure any loss of low end torque can be made up for with a new tornado air intake.

I believe they added 2 more teeth to the front pulley to lower the rpms at speed.

I think thats a good price. I figured it would come in between 225 to 250.A polished or chromed rear pulley is gonna run around 5 bills, from what Ive seen from the Harley suppliers.

Do you think it will be a difficult process to install the pulley? do it yourself job or take it to the local dealer?

An impact wrench would make the job easier at home.

I think I'll try going with the 200 rear tire first. That should bring the speedometer down a bit, depending on the actual installed overall diameter.

If that wont do it, then I'd order the front pulley.

A larger (rolling) diameter rear tire than stock, will require fewer rpm's to travel at any given speed.

Nothing. Could make a small correction in the too fast speedo. You need to change pulleys to make a difference in rpms.

You need to go to a Taller tire to make a geering difference. The 900 has a 180/70/15 right? So you need to go to a 75/15 or 80/15.

I knew that would happen ...I figured in the $200 range.

No thanks. I'd have to pay to get it mounted also ...so it could end up costing me over 5 bills.

just talked to a tech guy at scootworks. He said he had the new pulley installed in about 20 minutes. I guess if you are mechanically inclined, you could do it yourself.

It's not that hard to do. The hardest part will be breaking the retaining nut loose in the first place.

Does anyone know where the speedo is hook up for it's readings yet? Is it the rear wheel or the transmission? I already know it's not on the front wheel like the 500 or 1500.
