Christo, you need to go back and read what I wrote. I merely said the same things back to you that you said to me. And now you want to get all huffy about it. And too, look at what you say here about defending yourself. That is all I was doing as well, but you see the need to blast me for doing the same thing you are preaching. The comment about us riding 900s was a joke. Now that's about as much of an apology as you are gonna get outa me.

I think the last line is out of line, and really wasn't needed.
And Chris saw some light hearted agreement in my post that Turtle didnt see either.

Interesting point of view. Is that kind of like "natural selection"?

Exactly. Like I have said before. Instead of the judge takeing
away people's licenses that drink and drive just give them motorcycle
endorsements without the car endorsement. Let the drunks have a
chance to be legal and make sure they have less chance to kill
someone other than theirselves. People would really start to notice
us if a high percentage of us were alchoholics. They would start to
fear us. We might not be so invisable anymore.

People would not have to steal motorcycles, they could just
drive around near the bars on a Sunday morning and pick them
up.

People drive cars and bikes now without liscenses, what makes you think that this would change ANYTHING?

There are alchoholics that want to drive legally and not go to jail.
Many don't intend to drive drunk it just kinda happens. Not making
excuses for them. I believe the same self loathing thats draws them
to the bars to be with their friends would possibley work to get them
on a motorcycle if they could ride legally. I know it will never happen.
But imagine how much less people would be in jail for DUI and
how many less innocents would get hurt. Cops would have an easy
time picking out drunks because these guys would be all over the road,
unlike a car where you just have to hold the steering wheel. Bottem line
is, if the judge tells somone the only way you can legally operate a motor
vehicle is rideing a motorcycle I think thats what people would do.
When I was in AIT in the Army there was a SSG there that rode a moped
because he had lost his license. He never drove and always rode that
thing. Course he had more to lose though (rank)

I disagree. I weigh 200 lbs. One beer with lunch seems like a safe bet. At my age, I'm well aware of the effects.

Zukdriver. You are most likley right, however at my age, having lived longer than I have left to live I don't take unnecessary "safe bets" where it comes to my life.
I understand that it is very common that people drink and drive. After all every bar does have a parking lot, what I don't understand is how in this day and age with all the education regarding drinking and driving how we can hold our heads high and openly announce " I drink and drive" but only at a responsible level.
On a side note if DUI's were forced to ride bikes it should be manditory they sign organ doner cards as well.

pretty ironic that this thread has gotten so big over the past few days, the wife and i call some friends in Austin and tell them we are riding over for the weekend ....they suggest friday night us comming over and going to the Broken Spoke to eat and its BYOB....we had to tell them that we'd drink with them, but only when we get back to their place and we were done riding for the night...

Yep, my call. Don't want to argue, just stating my opinion because I was asked. Not breaking any laws and, yes, you may use any of my organs when I'm done with them.
