Has anyone made the mod where the turn signals function as running lights as well as turn signals? I saw a bike this morning on the ride to work that had the turn signals lit up just like the rear brake light - appeared much more visible on a very cloudy, overcast day. Since I already have front running lights I figure making the rear turn signals function as running lights too as become my next "must-do" change for the bike. Can't stand out too much riding in the DC traffic around where I live.

I added a "signalminder" on my bike and it turns the signals off, gives me running lights (fron & rear w/ various brightness levels) and added emergency flashers and escort lights all in one mod.

Did mine Thursday. Converted to LED, front and rear, and made the rear Red with running lights. BIG difference on being seen for sure. Had a few friends comment on how well they could see the lights even in the sunlight.

Did everyone who has done this use the Kuryakyn 4710 Run-Turn-Brake Controller for Metric Cruisers? I've been told it is a simple job.

I have the Kuryakyn run-turn-brake controller with deep dish red lens bezels. I like the look and the funcionality. Is that a word??
I have a couple of shots of the before and after on photobucket: bjohnston64 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I took the sockets out of some used front signals I had and put them in the rear housings, wired them up and tada! rear running lights. I did put a switch in just in case I have to turn them off, amber running lights in the rear are not actually legal but I have been riding like this for over a year and no problems so far.

My bike's been in and out of the shop lately (an oveflowing coolant issue) that has yet to be resolved in 6 trips to the shop in a little over 5000 miles. I've also worked every weekend for the last 3 weeks (plus my day job & 2 nights a week) so I haven't had much time for things like pictures. To top things off the dealer disconnected my battery (when they didn't really need to) and it reset the Power Commander and the Signalminder (I was pi**ed). I was up till Midnight messing with all that crap last might when I got home from work. So, all I can say is sorry about the pictures... I'll get to it I promise. By the way, I returned two things (one of which was the dash plaque)the "lowers" never fit and a button on the dash plaque kept sticking down which would make the "mode" stay in one position (usually happening at the gas station) the tripometer would get stuck when I reset it to zero miles. I sent it back to Phat (not happy about the sticky tape residue on my dash temporarily) and they are due to replace it any day.

i did mine a year ago, a simple job. a suggestion is to add connectors to the wire ends that match the existing connectors so it can be removed if ever...... i like the added visibility. some issues, the rear running lights must be red, not orange. finding red lenses can be difficult so i used clear with red bulbs and there are states that have laws against this too. all in all, i'd do again in a minute.

Thanks Russ - the link to your thread on installation was very helpful. You provided a detailed summary. I also liked the link to the photos you took of the bike at night. I've wired front Kuryakyn silver bullet running lights and a Stebel airhorn so I think I can handle this job.

Same here........I bought two front signals off E-Bay, moved them to the rear fender on each side of the taillight.....much better visibility even during the day. I cannot find one-screw red or clear lenses so i'm running yellow but I consider my safety/visibility much more important than some stupid law about yellow in the rear....just the way I feel about it.....STEVE |

I put the bullet running lights on so people would see me coming at night. Add rear running lights seems like a natural. Here is a picture of my front light set-up.
