I just kept riding, and the only time I stopped was for traffic. This morning I had a slight cramp in my leg, but no backache at all...none. The seat paid for itself yesterday as far as I'm concerned.

Here's some pics showing the backrest in a number of views. Hope they help.

I tried putting mine in that position you have in the second picture but your practically sitting on the tank! I dont htink it was ever intend to be used that way!\But hey,if it works for ya........

PLus I like the idea of taking it with me onto another bike, if or when I decide to make a change.

Can anybody comment to that?

I went ahead and bought the air hawk cushion. It works great, once I learned how to use it (don't put too much air in it). Wanting more, I broke down and bought the Kawasaki gel seat. I've only gone on one long ride of about 200 miles in a day, but I was a little disappointed in it. I thought the air hawk cushion absorbed the vibrations better. Perhpas the gel seat needs some breaking in?

I have a 900 Classic and installed the Mustang Touring more than a year ago. The comfort factor is great but I felt that it pushed me back a little so I installed the PHAT II risers and the setup is almost perfect. Now if I could just move the floorboards back a few inches.......

Hmm, that's the first I've heard of being pushed back. I got the standard 'up and forward.'

I do however plan on replacing the seat. Following the threads on this site, it appears the new gel seat is getting great reviews but I am leaning towards the mustang with the back rest. Any chance that anyone has tried both?

Although the mustang is more money, I have no problem spending the $$ if it is more comfortable.

I am 5’10” and 160lbs. Will the mustang push me too close to the gas tank?

Any comments from experience riders would be most appricated.

Thanks
mustang

Drivenrythm

Is the backrest and grab bars shown in your last pic on a VN2K or a VN900? I would like to get a setup like this if it is available for the 900.

My Mustang should be here on Monday! I didn't go with the backrest though...we'll see how long it takes me to regret that.

Hey Fred,
I've been called a limber back (when I played golf lol) but I don't have the backrest and have had no regrets so far. Been on the bike 13+ hours in one day and been ready to ride the next morning with no troubles. Considering I need to lose another 30 or so pounds I think that says a lot for the seat. It is so deep as it is that I feel like I have back support. Of course 95% of the time I am 2 up so my wife's knees are there too, but I never notice.

All that to say I love my seat just like it is lol

Take care,
Robert
