I guess there are gel pads, sheep skins and other comfort devices out on the market that would help. My longest day in the saddle was just over 500 miles with few stops and the Mustang seat proved it's worth as I never got uncomfortable. Don't think I'd want to try an Iron Butt and find my limitations the hard way.

Sheepskin works really good. Airhawk pads are good. I haven't tried a gel pad.
My Mustang seat is great, I think I could do an iron butt on it with a sheepskin. My personal trick is to wear under armour compression shorts under my jeans. Helps a lot with both the swamp a$$ and the comfort.

I'm good for 400+ miles ever since I had my seat restuffed w/ memory foam. Haven't tried farther in one haul yet...

Here's one source: J&P Cycles - Motorcycle exhausts, seats, mirrors, and more
Just Google "raw gel pads"
