I went with Foremost because of friends. I checked with Geico and they were less than $3 more.

'06 900 Classic, $332/year w/ Progressive, 50/100 plus $3k of bling coverage.

I've had several claims with Progressive with my cars and never had an issue with their service. I was quite pleased when they gave us $8k for that POS Neon that my wife wrecked. (Life lesson: make your insurance adjuster your friend, they have more discretionary power than you think)

I'm paying $460 a year with Geico, which I thought was pretty decent since I'm a new rider on a new bike. I didn't shop around much because I have Geico for my car insurance as well and although I've never had a claim, they have always been great (and I get a discount on the MC policy for having auto with them). This discussion is really kind of meaning less though since we're not also comparing coverages, deductibles, etc. Not to mention differences is rates due to location.

I didn't go with Progressive for the same reason. I had Dairyland for years (liability only on 2 bikes just ran $47.00 per year), but when I got the new bike and called them for a quote, they never called back. Talked to lots of others and all were higher then Gieco. I hadn't used them before but the Kawa dealer said they were a good deal, and they were. $188/yr and that is full coverage/comprehensive and uninsured motorist. Not too bad.

Car claims are not the same as MC claims, at least with progressive.
The people on the field doing the actual legwork (estimates, adjustments, payments, etc..) are totally different groups.

My issues/disappointments/frustrations with progressive are specific to a MC claim.

I've Bike-Line .... Markel American Insurance Company ... full coverage for $237 year. Have Allstate on my home and both cages, but they wanted around $600-700 so I switched to Bike-Line.

To the original poster... I have Foremost and I pay approximately $350/yr for full coverage plus 3k in aftermarket upgrade coverage. Pretty dirt cheap imho. Like any ins. I would guess it all depends on your driving record, age, etc.

All insurance companies are great at taking your money, its how they pay out that lets you know how good a company they are.

I don't miss an opportunity to trash State Farm because every dealing I've had with them left me not only dissappointed but feeling cheated.

Its a long story that began many years ago when after paying in for five years after being robbed despite photographs, police report, and testimonials from witnesses, they refused my claim unless I produced receipts for every item taken and last event just month before last when they would only pay 80% of a traffic accident claim despite their customer admitttably going the wrong way up a one way street. (Had the oddasity to hit the brakes which to State Farm meant the accident should have been avoided.)

They are currently under investigation for fraud as a matter of business practice by the federal government and the list of court cases from Katrina of non-payment court cases too numerous to list.

The only thing period I would trust State Farm for is taking your money and ripping everyone off that puts in a claim they can.

Sorry about the rant but these companies only get away with this stuff if we all keep quiet about it.

Dang, don't know where you are at, but that's double what I'm paying through Progressive!
Full coverage for <$350 a year.
Had good reports (at least up here) about progressive, haven't had (and pray I don't) the occaision to find out how good they really are.
