    Default Extended Warranty

My dealer just called me offering to give me a 4 year extended warranty from Kawasaki for $570 but after bartering with her, I got her down to $470. So in total, it would be 5 years.

While I'm not a fan of extended warrantys, I wanted to ask if anyone thought this was a good deal. It sounds it to me, but being a new bike owner, I just don't know about the repair history of these bikes. By the way, it's an 06' VN 900. (I'm just waiting for my new backrest and I should have more pix's up soon)

By the way, the reason for the deal is because she said Kawasaki 4-year extended warranty is going up to $870 next year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Peace.

If you plan on keeping the bike a few years, I'd jump on that, sounds like a great deal. I'm considering purchasing the extended warranty, I'll have to see if they will do any dealing with me...

You can get the same warranty much cheaper on Ebay from Fremont Motorsports:

eBay Motors: Kawasaki 4-yr extended warranty. Good Times Protection (item 290145306678 end time Aug-08-07 07:26:04 PDT)

It's the same Kawasaki warranty that your dealer is trying to sell to you for more money. I bought my 4 year extended warranty from Fremont Motorsports for only $350. There's not a lot of competition for bidding on these warranties so just bid the minimum of $350 and wait for the auction to end. After you buy the warranty you will get a Good Times Protection card sent to you directly from Kawasaki for presentation to the dealer for any warranty claims you might make.

I got my 4 year extended for $300. It was a guy who works at a dealership from VROC. Two weeks after it went into effect.....had to have the top end rebuilt. Best money I ever spent.

Got mine off ebay too and within a couple hours you could see it was applied on the Kaw site. Good to have if you're gonna keep her and a good selling point if you decide not to.

At the dealership where I bought one of our bikes he told me that the folks at Kawasaki would blow up our mailbox with offers of extended warranties. He told me he would provide me with the same warranty for 1/2 the price.

I have also heard that if your wanting to sell or trade and your bike and it is still under warranty it's ups your price or trade in.

Well worth it when you can get that extra 4 years for between 3 and 4 hundred bucks and with the Nomad, you already have two to begin with.

I paid $300 for 4yr extended but that includes your already included 12 months! so you are really buyin only three exteded yrs. I purchased mine at my local kawa when i got my bike but when riched 600 miles I called for the first svc and wow... to my surpise then wanted $200+ just for a them oil and filter change. they said the bike might need adjusments so that was the reason for that high price. I said well I just want the oil and filter change so the guy responded... if you don't do your first initial svc your warranty will be voided!!! I responded... good to know and thanked him. per the warranty contract you can cancell your extended warratny within 60 days with no penalties!!! so the next day I showed up at the dealer to cancell my warranty and that was my 60 day!!! they gave me a hard time but they had to refund me the money.

buttom line I don't thing this type of warranties aren't even worth if you will spend all this money on high maintenance.

You already have 12 month from factory and usually thats when things happen (with in the first couple of months)...

also at your 15000 mil svc they will not cover for your valve adjmts! that comes out of your pocket!

Huh? Mines an 04 and the warranty expires in 2010. You do the math.

Jesse web got a 3 year warranty, They offer 1, 2, 3,4 years + 1 factory for a maximun of 5 years, it worked out to about $80 per year on the paperwork I got. I am glad I didn't beacust the dealer wanted $480 and the letter said $600. I wish that ebay dealer took the KAWA card I would buy it now...
