Default Mean Streak Aftermarket Forward Controls: Which to get?

I am trying to decide which forward controls are going to suit me best. I would like to know how far forward each brand moves a riders feet forward.

I know of three brands: Jardine, Mapam, and Highway Hawk. I am just indecisive as to which brand I want to go with. I am 6'8" so I need to forward my feet as much as possible without raising them any higher than stock level. I have already shaved the he!! out of a stock seat, and that helped a lot. I am just wanting my feet forward some more and I think that that will do it for me.

I had Jardine's on my Meanie. They are about 6" forward. They do seem to be about the stock height for the pegs.

The jardines are very high quality items. I do recommend getting the mini-floorboards with them. the floorboard makes a perfect heel rest, if nothing else.

I can't comment on the other brands.

I thought the Jardine's were higher than stock, which is why I went with the Mapam's on my old Meanie. I'm 6'2" and the Mapam's were perfect for me (34" inseam)...........it seems as if the Jardine's are the way to go for you.

I have also heard that the Jardines are higher than stock, about 1-1.5" higher, and looking at pictures they also appear to be higher. That is the distance I want, but I don't want to bring my knees up any higher.

I even went to a Chopper shop and talked to their machinest, and he said he could do some for me for about $350, but didn't sound too sure about what the end result would be, which I didn't like. Now I am looking at manufactured ones again, cause I know what they will look like.

Thanks! I still have to take it to get upholstered. They same chopper shop has an upholster they deal with, so I am going to talk to him eventually to get it shaped a little more and re-covered. Right now all the excess material from the stock seat cover is tucked under the seat and stapled down. And I still have to get a fender bib for it. In the works.

Highway Hawk makes for many bikes. Here are the controls for the MS. They look nice, I just wish they had a pic on a bike.

    Part # 494-602

Wouldn't let me link directly to the page, so you have to look for them. Just click on footpegs, and then select Mean Streak and find part #.

I have read that the highway hawk controls are absolute crap. Dont cheap out on controls that are vital to the safe operation of your bike! I put the jardines on mine and they move the pegs forward 6 inches and up around 1-2 inches. The mapams are 4" forward.

I highly recommend the jardines, they are extremely well made and are high quality parts. Here's some pics from my cellphone - still gotta take some high res pics.

I will probably end up going with the mapam, because I don't want the 1-2" rise from the stock height. Do you have any pics of you on the bike(and what is your height)? I am 6'8" tall, so I am wanting to stay at stock height, just go forward.

As far as the res on the pics, they are pretty good for a cell phone.

Im 6'5" but I dont have any pics of myself on the bike. I find the Jardines to be very comfortable and the rise isn't all that much - it feels like I'm sitting in the bike now. I don't feel like I need risers for my handlebars either which is good; I was worried about having to do that.

I am only 3" taller than you, but it seems I take up a lot more space than you lengthwise.

Well this is excellent news since Jardine claims they do not make forawrd controls to fit an '07 Meanie.
    Apparently they do.

Can the Jardines accept any other footpegs?
I like the look of my Stiletto pegs.

I concur with Guitar7272's assessment above that the Jardines "... move the pegs forward 6 inches and up around 1-2 inches." I have an 03 meanie and a 32-1/2" inseam and I'm nice and stretched out now. Although I can't comment on the quality of the other controls, I'm very pleased with the Jardines and the accompanying ergos. Good luck w/your decision.

I'm 6'1 and put the Mapams on. They put the pegs right under the rear brake reservoir, not any higher than stock. I have a 32" inseam and they stretch my legs out a bit, knees are still bent a little. If your inseam is over 35, definitly go Jardine. Find a bike night or anywhere bikes hang out and look for someone who has the forward controls on and ask if you can sit on the bike to check them out. You can also go to cruiser customizing.com and read the reviews on them and the mapams.

I sent you a pm but I do believe you can use other pegs as I have heard about people putting on mini floorboards.

Not sure if this is what you're asking but each peg is attached with a single hex bolt. It appears that changing to a different style/ergo peg wouldn't be too difficult but obviously it depends on the peg. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Guys, this is excellent dialogue. I was just looking at Jardine forward controls today for my Meanie and had the same concerns. I am 6'4" and looking for more leg room. Thanks again.
